Splash country is a 35 acre water park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, adjacent to Dollywood. With over 30 water slides and attractions, Splash country is a great place to keep cool on a hot day in Tennessee. The park is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
We visited Splash Country with my husband and 3 year old son. We were delighted to find several huge water areas specifically for young children. There were child-sized and even baby-sized water slides for the under 5 crowd. And, of course, there are the 70 foot tall water rides for the more adventurous members of your family. Not even my husband had the courage to slide down the “Fire Tower Falls.”
This year, Splash Country announced the addition of the Slick Rock Racer. In a Press Release, Dolly Parton said this about the new slide: “Me and my brothers and sisters used to play in the creeks around home in the Smoky Mountains, and more times that not, we’d land on a mossy covered rock that sent us for a ride like you wouldn’t believe. That’s the same kind of unexpected thrills and adventure that I had in mind when I chose Slick Rock Racer for families to enjoy together at Dollywood’s Splash Country.”
Splash Country was clean, fun, and well designed. We never waited in lines very long and the staff was friendly and helpful. Lockers are available for $5 to keep your important items safe and dry. Also, Family Cabanas are available for rent if you are in need of a place to rest during the day. They are rather expensive however, over $100 for one day, but would be a great choice if you and your extended family need a place to meet, have young children that need a nap, or grandparents who want to sit out of the sun.
Splash Country has been recognized as one of the country’s top ten water parks, and I highly recommend planning a day or 2 at splash country when visiting the Pigeon Forge area. You won’t be disappointed.
