Crystal Hot Sauce – The Best Hot Sauce?

I like to consider myself a connoisseur when it comes to hot sauce. As far back as I can remember, I have always put hot sauce on almost everything I eat. I’ve had Tabasco, Jamaican Hell Fire, Franks Red Hot, Texas Pete, Smack My Ass and Call Me Sally, Endorphin Rush, Tahiti Joe’s, Da Bomb, and many others. I’ve tried a lot of hot sauces. Then something occurred to me, Crystal hot sauce is… well, kind of the best hot sauce.

I know that anyone who is a serious fan of hot sauce would probably disagree with me. Honestly, most connoisseurs would never even consider Crystal if trying to decide on the best hot sauce. It’s really cheap, it’s not rare at all, and it isn’t even that hot. Despite all of this, I still have to say it’s the best.

Crystal hot sauce has a lot of versatility. What I mean by that, is it goes really well with a lot of foods. Endorphin Rush tastes good in a pot of chili, but I wouldn’t put in on my eggs. Tabasco sauce is great on nachos or a burrito, but it isn’t very good on chicken wings. There is juts something about Crystal that makes it taste good with everything. I really can’t thing of a common, or not so common, food to put hot sauce on that I haven’t put Crystal on and enjoyed it.

Crystal has a really good flavor for being such a simple sauce. It’s also very mild, but not to the point where it doesn’t even taste like hot sauce anymore. Perhaps the mildness is what gives it such versatility. So many other hot sauce, while delicious, are just too hot to enjoy on certain foods. There was a time when I liked my hot sauce so hot that I couldn’t even taste what I was eating, but that was just a phase that didn’t last very long. I like to be able to enjoy the taste of certain foods, and just add a little bit of heat to them. Crystal always seems to be just right, and if it isn’t hot enough, I just add more.

For me, putting Crystal on my food has become as ordinary as putting ketchup on fries, or adding salt and pepper to a dish. I’ve even mixed Crystal with other hot sauces and condiments. It’s pretty much become a standard ingredient for all of my recipes, too. Not to mention, it only costs about $1 for a 12 oz bottle. Most gourmet hot sauces cost about $10 a bottle. For my money, Crystal is definitely the best hot sauce around.
