I remember how reliable my Archos Jukebox was when I started using it to store, record and play music. The little handheld machine was built like a tank. I’ve dropped it a number of times, and nothing broke, nothing fell off. It was a great device to own.
When I picked up the Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox Mp3 Player, I thought I was dreaming. This machine feels so light and thin in your hands, you can’t believe the device has a harddrive inside. Of course, when you start the device you can feel the harddrive spinning. But the harddrive for a random desktop computer is so big, you can’t believe they can actually compress such a bohemoth storage facility into a 4 x 3 inch portable device.
The Normad Jukebox is among an award-winning series of Zen portable audio and media players.
Each player uses a notebook hard drive, ranging from 2 to 2 1/2 inches in size. Unless you’re talking about the Nano, V or Neeon series, but we aren’t.
Most of these players run on Windows. Some of the newer Mp3 players are only compatible with Windows XP and Vista.
Most hard drives for these players are built with a Texas Instruments’s TMS x ARM architecture and digital signal processor that makes up as the CPU.
Most of these players have economically sound circuits for MP3 and WMA decoding, and no accelerator chips.
The entirety of the Zen product name includes ZEN Vision:M, the ZEN V and ZEN V Plus, the ZEN Vision W, and ZEN Stone and ZEN Stone Plus.

Pros and cons
The menu is technically a mess
Loading is not as fast as they advertise
As for the cons; the sound is phenomenal, the entire package is light and easy to take with you anywhere, the monitor is bright and clear, and it has not froze up yet.

Final thoughts
I consider this to be a nice MP3 player. The device has a few glitches. I don’t particularly like the menu or how some of the special features work. But, those are minor quibbles for what’s got to be the coolest player of its kind since the Archos Jukebox recorder. I certainly like this new portable ZEN MP3 player more than any iPod I’ve used.
