Cozy Breakfast Nook Design Ideas

A breakfast nook is usually in a small section of your kitchen. It’s a great way to have an eat-in kitchen when there isn’t much space. It is meant for informal dining. There are several ways to design a cozy breakfast nook that will create an atmosphere you will want to spend a lot of time in.

Here are some of the best breakfast nook design ideas that will make your kitchen cozy:

Corner Nook – A corner nook is one of the coziest settings for it. Choose a spot where a corner is available. If there are no windows, have them put in. One on both walls where the nook will be will add a great deal of brightness to the room. Using a banquette will maximize sitting space, but minimize the actual space you will need. A banquette is placed against the wall and is a multiple person seating arrangement. The seat is much like a booth in a diner but it will be much more comfortable.

Use light colors that will keep the nook bright and inviting. Choose a table that is much smaller than a normal sized kitchen table for this area. That will make it much cozier. Use fresh flowers when possible for a centerpiece to keep the cheery theme alive.

Against A Flat Wall – A nook doesn’t have to be in a corner in order to be cozy. If there isn’t a corner available, choose a spot that has a wall. If there isn’t a window, it is highly suggested that you add one. Keep the brightness from the sun filtering through. This is a great place to place a bay window where you can place a cushion for extra seating. Use valances only, curtains take away from the sunlight which you want to encourage. Place a decorative shade on the window in case the sun becomes too intense. You can open and close them as necessary.

Centered – Adding an addition to your kitchen can work wonders. Choose a place in the kitchen that you can expand. This is a more involved task than the above mentioned, but the results are amazing. Use sliding doors on all the walls. If you prefer, you could add a sliding entry door and large windows surrounding the room. This will give you wonderful lighting and will look absolutely stunning.

Make the nook separate from the kitchen by adding a simple step up from the nook to the kitchen area. Place the table in the center of the nook where you can add as many chairs as you want or need. Add furniture accents such as a shelf to place decorative plates on. A lace table runner will look great in your new nook. Add a bowl of fresh fruit to finish the look.

A cozy breakfast nook design will help you create a space that you love to retreat to. You will find yourself drawn to the room without hesitation.
