If you work construction or know someone that does you will understand how much he or she enjoys having a radio on while they work. Usually a radio doesn’t last to long on a job site. It will end up being dropped or knocked over and broken. That was until Bosch came out with their Power Box Radio. It is built very well.
There is a cage built around the radio to protect it from falls or being thrown into the back of the work truck. The roll cage is supposed to protect the radio from a ten-foot drop. The Bosch Power Box also has the buttons speakers and battery compartment sealed to protect it from the weather. The Power Box can run from electric or run off a Bosch battery. There is also a built in Battery charger for the Bosch power tools batteries. It has a four way GFCI outlet that comes in handy to plug in tools and other equipment while on the job site. The Bosch Power Box has a CD player that will play MP3’s. This was one of the main reasons we choose this model job site radio. I can make an MP3 CD that holds 200 songs and then my husband doesn’t have to worry about switching CD’s throughout the day. The Power Box also has Fm radio built in.
The only problem we had with the FM radio was the antenna that came with the Power Box doesn’t pick up stations very well. After reading some reviews I found that several others had this same complaint. My husband fixed this problem by attaching a new antenna. Now he picks up Fm reception just fine. This Bosch Power box has came in handy many times when the power went out at home as well. The only other problem my husband has had with the Bosch Power Box is that it sat out in a heavy rain once and the buttons quit working. Once the radio dried out the buttons worked just fine. So even though its sealed I wouldn’t recommend leaving it out in the wet weather for long periods of time.
We have had the Bosch power Box for going on two years and overall we have been very pleased with it. The newer model now comes with a remote and they have improved the antenna feature. I would recommend this to anyone who works construction and needs a durable radio for the job site. I can see why the Bosch Power Box is a best seller on the Amazon Website. It is really convenient to be able to charge the drill battery right in the radio. This way you don’t have to carry around the separate charger. We have seen other job site radios from different manufactures but none of them compared to the Bosch Power Box.
They also have an attachment for your IPOD .You can listen to music and charge the IPOD without the need for any extra cables. It just plugs into the weather resistant slot. The protective case for the IPOD is also dust resistant as well. If you are in the market for a new job site radio give the Bosch Power Box a try you wont be disappointed. My husband has used his radio for a step stool as well as an extra seat and it is holding up just fine. It has been banged around and still plays just like it did when it was new.
