Bill Lees’ Bamboo Chopsticks: Best Chinese Food in Bakersfield

Bill Lee’s Bamboo Chopsticks is a family owned Chinese Food restaurant located in the heart of downtown Bakersfield in California. Besides having a restaurant, they also have a bar, a take out service where you can pick up your food or have it delivered and banquet facilities. Bill Lee’s is the perfect place to have a business lunch or to take your family to for a good meal.

My family has been going to Bill Lee’s Bamboo Chopsticks since 1978. I grew up going to Bill Lee’s for meals as a child and now I take my own children to dine on their mouthwatering food. They have two seating areas, one is pretty dim and the other is slightly brighter.They have booths and tables and with your meal, you get hot tea for no extra charge. If you have children, the brighter seating area has booths that are more child friendly. You can order a la cart or a full meal. When my family goes to Bill Lee’s, we usually order a la cart and get Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein with crispy noodles and sometimes their Boneless Pineapple Chicken that comes in a sweet and sour sauce. One of my recent dining companions said that Bill Lee’s is the best Chinese food restaurant in Bakersfield and the quality of their food is magnificent. If you want soup, I recommend getting the Egg Flower Soup. It comes with little oyster crackers and has a good flavor. Every time I’ve been to Bill Lee’s, I’ve been seated immediately but at busy times you’ll have a short wait. Their service is excellent and your drinks are always refilled promptly. Their bathrooms are kept clean and they have their own parking lot along with parking on the front and side. They have lotto machines located right by the bathrooms.

Their menu prices are comparable with other restaurants in the area. Their lowest priced meal is $7.95 and it comes with Pork Chow Mein, Pork Fried Rice, and a choice of Fried Shrimp, Egg Foo Yong, or Sour Chicken. You can order a la cart dishes by the pint or the quart. I recommend getting the quart container because it’s not that much of a price difference then the pint and if you can’t eat it all, you can get a to go box to take home and have leftovers the next day. I’m not a big fan of pork so I always order their chicken dishes. If you’re dining at Bill Lee’s, I highly recommend their Chicken Fried Rice. I have NEVER tasted Chicken Fried Rice as good as Bill Lee’s.

Many times we have used their take out/delivery service. You call them, order your food and can pick it up in about 15-20 minutes. When we have it delivered it’s always arrived within the hour. The delivery fee is four dollars. There isn’t really anything that I dislike about Bill Lee’s. We’ve been loyal customers for many years and will continue to take our family there. If you haven’t tried Bill Lee’s, at least try it once because I guarantee you’ll be going back.
