Betty Crocker’s Peanut Butter Supreme Brownies the Best Ever

A short time ago, my daughter decided she wanted to start cooking. Needing something easy for her to make yet tasty enough for her to enjoy the benefits of her work, my wife and I decided brownies were the best option.

We were about to go to the grocery store to buy a box of brownie mix when we realized we already had one in our pantry. I don’t remember buying the Betty Crocker Peanut Butter Supreme mix but I’m glad we did. I don’t think any brownie mix we intended on buying would have matched the one we already had.

First, let me start out by saying they were so easy to make a 2-year-old could do it. I know this for a fact because that’s my daughter’s age. The instructions were easy to follow and, with our help, she had no problems mixing in the ingredients. Even taking into consideration her age and the natural delays that come with it (such as her trying to throw a whole egg into the batter because she didn’t realize she was supposed to break it open first), the preparation was relatively short; not taking more than 15 or 20 minutes.

I think the hardest part of the process was waiting for the brownies to bake. It’s unbelievable just how long 45 minutes is when you have nothing to do but watch the oven.

When the brownies were finally done, that’s when I discovered what a real treat they were. Betty Crocker uses Hershey’s chocolate in their brownies and the Peanut Butter Supreme combines that with peanut butter. One of my favorite candy bars are Reese’s Peanut Butter cups and these brownies tasted very close to those. We had a decent sized tray of them and I don’t think they lasted two hours before there was nothing left but crumbs.

In fact, we liked them so much, we ended up going to the store after all to buy another box and my daughter got the thrill of making even more brownies; which she then shared with her friends and my parents.

I used to think the only way I could find high quality brownies is by making them completely from scratch. I’m glad Betty Crocker found a way to mix quality with convenience. The next time I go shopping for brownie mix, or cake mix for that matter, they will be the only brand I look at.
