Best Holiday Gift Ideas for Your Secretary

Your secretary is probably your most valued asset. She works hard for you all year long, and probably goes above and beyond her duties as a secretary. This is the one opportunity you have to let her know how much she is appreciated. Listed below are some holiday gifts I’m sure she would love to receive.

1. Money.

This is probably the best gift to give to your secretary. That way, she can buy something she really likes. But, if you think money is too impersonal, or you think she may put the money toward bills instead of buying herself something nice, give her something listed below.

2. Simon Visa Card.

These are great cards that you can buy at any shopping mall. You can make it for any denomination you want and she can use it anywhere Visa is accepted. Just put it in an envelope with a thoughtful card and message.

3. Gift certificate to a department store.

First of all, giving a gift certificate at a high-dollar store might not be so good for your secretary if she can’t afford to shop there in the first place. Choose a store that is located in the mall (Macy’s, Burdine’s, Nordstrom’s, etc.) and not some obscure boutique where she may not be able to find anything she likes.

4. Purse.

Women love shoes and purses, but you probably don’t know her foot size. Any nice name-brand purse (Coach, Dooney & Bourke, etc.) will be very much appreciated. Or, you can get her a nice wallet and put some cash inside.

5. A Day at the Spa.

A certificate for a day at the spa would include manicure, pedicure and massage at the very least. Most spas have different packages according to how much you want to spend.

6. Gift certificate to a nice restaurant.

This is always a nice gift, especially if it’s somewhere you don’t think she’s ever been. Just make it enough to cover the bill for two people. Even if she’s single, she won’t want to go by herself and she can always find someone to go with her.

7. A cashmere sweater or shawl.

Women love cashmere and it’s probably something they’ll never buy for themselves. A nice cashmere shawl can be worn anytime.

8. A basket of goodies.

There are many novelty gift shops that will build a basket for you. If she drinks wine, include wine in the basket with nice wine glasses, cheese and crackers. If she doesn’t drink, make up a basket with fine chocolates and cookies. If you want to give more than just the basket, include a card with a gift certificate or gift card included. You could also give her a “Free Day with Pay from Work” card.

Whatever you buy, please give it some thought. After all, the holidays only come once a year. Buying her something nice shows how much you appreciate her.
