Best Father’s Day Gifts Under $20

I love writing about Father’s Day gifts. I think that a “thank you” for a parent is one of the most wonderful and moving of all gifts. The problem, as with many gifts, is that many of us are too busy buying gas to have much left over for presents for our dad.

It is a great idea to consider Father’s Day gifts under $20; dad gets a remembrance and the “giver of the gift” can continue to drive their car; unless of course, they are between one-month and 15-years-old.

I would like to simply restate some of the Father’s Day gifts that I have mentioned in other articles that were less expensive. DVDs, cologne, slippers, robes, personal needs like underwear and socks, music, tickets to events, gas cards and restaurant gift certificates are all inexpensive gifts that would probably be under $20. Now, perhaps we could try and think of some more unique Father’s Day gifts under $20.

One Father’s Day gift that I gave my dad when he was living was a surprise party. Father’s Day is on Sunday and so are baseball games. I invited a couple of his friends and a couple of my friends and we watched our favorite team play. A couple of bags of chips and a few two-liters of soda was all it took (along with a card) to give dad a great day. Incidentally, his pals brought him a little gift and even though it was a gag gift, he loved it.

My dad was a life-long Peorian, as I have been. There was a book for sale with pictures of the city as it was at the turn of the century for about $20. He had great enjoyment trying to figure out locations from the “olden days”. This book gave him a lot of joy.

One year, as a Father’s day gift, my family took my dad around the city. We visited all the parks; we visited his old neighborhood; we visited some new buildings and got an ice cream at the end of the day. Also, my brothers and I played baseball with dad. It was a lot of fun for him to try and hit the ball once again.

We have given our dad tickets to a local Arena Football team and well as a Class A baseball team.

I know that I enjoyed getting from my sons shirts and ball caps with my favorite sports team’s logo or an exclamation of my value as a dad.

Probably the Father’s Day gift that my dad enjoyed the most was when my family had a family photo taken. Of course, the cost was more than $20, but by including his photo in the cost of what we were going to pay anyway, it didn’t cost more than $20.

I have said this as many times as I can because I truly believe it. What the gift is doesn’t matter from the standpoint of cost. What matters is that there is a Father’s Day gift and, that there is a part of you attached.
