Best Beaches to Visit in Tampa, Florida

Clearwater and St. Petersburg are just a couple of beach highlights in the Tampa Bay area. Far from the world of Disney and resorts of Central Florida, the western coasts welcome travelers and residents year after year. Tampa is home to numerous beaches and fishing hotspots; prime spots for an afternoon picnic or hiking excursion. Picnic Island is the best place to host a gathering or launch your sailboat. The oversized shelter can accommodate guests and large groups for the barbeque party, and you have plenty of options to relax on the pier to soak in the sun. The boat ramp is open 24 hours a day, so you’ll have no excuse not to take in a the moon rising along the bay. If you’re interested in watching a parade of boats, be sure to make a stop at Johns Pass Beach in the Madeira Beach area. It’s a popular spot for students and tourists, but off-season is the ideal time to enjoy some swimming, long walks in the sand, and plenty of sites to visit in the nearby town. When you’re ready for your miniature island getaway, spend a day or two at Honeymoon Island Beach State Park. The beautiful setting and exceptional views from this beach location are the perfect example of sunny Florida: sun, sand, palm trees, and gentle waves are the epitome of relaxation. Ybor is the downtown Tampa hub for shopping, restaurants, museums, and plenty of local cultural attractions. After a day of sightseeing, make a stop at Davis Islands Beach located at 900 Martinique Avenue. You’ll find an array of boats along the pier. Local residents have already claimed the prime picks of the area to take in some of Tampa’s most attractive settings, but you’re sure to find a spot to soak in the sun.
