Beauty Product Review: Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder

Clearing, Neutrogena, Oil Free, Pressed Powder

Women who wear foundation typically set it with some form of powder after wards. The main two choices in the powder category is loose powder which typically comes in some sort of pot or tube which can be shaken out and applied with a powder puff or a brush. The second choice, which is the one I prefer is the pressed powder. A friend of mine recommended Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder. Like me, she also struggles with oily skin and occasional breakouts in her thirties. Here are my findings on Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder.

Price
I paid $7.69 for a .35 ounce compact of Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder. I found this price to be about average for a drugstore beauty product. Other name brands of pressed powder come slightly cheaper, but I don’t mind paying an extra few dollars if it is a quality product that I will use every day. I put my makeup on in the morning and then touch it up once or twice throughout the day before removing it at night. Compacts of pressed powder usually last me for quite a long time since I try not to apply too much of during the day to avoid the cakey look. Instead, I use oil absorbing sheets to get rid of the shinies and use the pressed powder sparingly. Neutrogena gets five out of five stars for price.

Consistency And Staying Power
Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder is very thin and translucent. After applying the powder the first time in my usual way, I had to go back and apply more as it didn’t quite provide me with the coverage I wanted. Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder seemed to disappear into my skin. Although I love to look as though I am barely wearing any makeup at all, I still need my pressed powder to even out my skin tone and help to make any skin imperfections be less noticeable. I found myself needing to apply much more powder than usual during the day. For Consistency and Staying Power I give Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder two out of five stars.

Performance
Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder contains .5% of Salicylic Acid. While Salicylic Acid is a fantastic ingredient to fight acne, most skin products used in the war against breakouts contain approximately two percent of Salicylic Acid. This negligible amount did not help in my quest to stay acne free. There was no change whatsoever in my skin’s complexion. After using this product for a few weeks, my skin was no better and no worse. For Performance, I give Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder two out of five stars.

Overall Review
Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder averages a three out of five stars. If you are looking for very light coverage at an affordable price, this pressed powder may be for you. However, if you are looking for a product that does double duty as a finishing touch to your foundation as well as a product that reduces the amount of breakouts you get per month, you will be disappointed. While my friend is very pleased with Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Pressed Powder and doesn’t seem to mind the constant need to reapply, I won’t be buying this pressed powder again.
