Austin Restaurant- Niki’s Pizza

In North Austin just off IH-35 you might just find yourself standing at a counter looking to find your next slice of life. Now I know pizza is pizza but not everyone makes it the same and though the toppings are similar everywhere you go the flavor is truly in the hands of the pizza maker. Pizza is a dish made all around the world and flavors vary from region to region. In America you can find dozens of Pizzaria’s in just about every city/town on a map.

So this obsession with this delicious flatbread has been with us for many years in the making. It is speculated that the pizza goes back as far as the 6^th century B.C. Attributing a flat bread baked on the sheilds of soilders, covered in cheese and dates to being one of the many origins of pizza. It is said that King Ferdinand I (1751-1825) also had an obsession with a banned food, so in order to fulfill his desire he set out dressed in common clothes while visiting a poor neighborhood in Naples and feasted upon the banned delight. In 1889 one of the most renowned pizzas was invented known as Pizza Margherita, named for Queen Margherita of Italy. A simple Flatbread covered in tomato, basil and mozzarella to represent the colors of the Italian Flag.

So what can you expect from Niki’s? Well they have quite a full menu of oven baked goodness. A variety of calzones, pastas and Pizza of course. They offer daily specials which you can fill up on two slices and a drink. Or maybe you want a calzone and a drink. Take it easy with a slice and salad but don’t worry you get a drink too. But wait don’t fill up and leave just yet they have some sweets too, try the tiramisu, dive into a chocolate mouse or entreat upon a cannoli.

Now that you know what they serve how the service you ask? I have to say they are laid back and you might find soccer(football) on the tv which they will be watching between guest. But don’t think they are forgetting the food or the guest. In short pizza at Niki’s is a slice of life don’t let it pass you by or you pass by it.
