There is a large selection of apartments for rent in Queens, New York for $1,500 and less. And in neighborhoods in all parts of Queens. Most are one and two bedroom units and you can even find a three bedroom if you are lucky. They are in all types of buildings, private houses, small and large apartment buildings.

The neighborhoods in the west of Queens, New York are the ones with the subway service. East of 179th Street, the options are the Long Island Railroad and express busses. The nearer the subway, the more the apartments will cost. Especially any apartments near Queens Boulevard because of the subways and the fact that it is one of the major shopping areas with two shopping malls within blocks of each other.

When looking for an apartment the first thing to do is to establish your budget, including utilities and transportation. Also if you have a car, you may need to rent a garage. Some of the neighborhoods are very densely populated and with the alternate side of the street parking regulations, off street parking is definitely a plus. These are two of the most important questions to ask, Are utilities included and is there off street parking.

Also take into consideration the total number of rooms in addition to the number of bedrooms. A one bedroom apartment can have either 3 or 4 rooms, a two bedroom either 4 or 5 rooms. Most 3 bedrooms have 6 rooms total, but some have 5 and some can have as many as 7.

Make you list of what is most important to you. Nearness to transportation and shopping, number of rooms, pets allowed etc.
