Alternative Treatments for Bladder Infection Symptoms

Bladder infections, also known as urinary tract infections, are accompanied by painful urination, frequent urination and often foul smelling and cloudy urine. The most common treatment for bladder infection symptoms is antibiotics. If you are hesitant to use antibiotics for your bladder infection, there are some different treatments that may be able to help you eliminate the bladder infection and prevent it from reoccurring. The best part is that most of these alternative treatments are easily bought at your closest supermarket or discount store.

Cranberries As An Alternative

Many people swear by cranberries for their urinary tract health. Cranberries cause the body to produce acid in the urine, which prevents the growth of bacteria. The best alternative is to drink 100% cranberry juice, not juice cocktail. Cranberry juice works quickly and is usually more concentrated than pills. If you are like me and cannot stand the taste of cranberries, cranberry tablets can help prevent bladder infections. Be sure to drink plenty of water, which both increases the effectiveness of cranberry tablets and helps you urine more often to keep the urinary tract clear of bacteria.

Canned Asparagus As An Alternative

Canned asparagus is not only a very effective way of curing a bladder infection but also a great way to ensure that your bladder infection will not return. To get rid of a bladder infection, simply eat one can of asparagus a day, juice and all, for five to seven days until all bladder infection symptoms disappear. To prevent a bladder infection, begin eating a can a day at the first signs of a bladder infection. It should only take two or three days for the bacteria in your urinary tract to be completely gone.

Apple Cider Vinegar As An Alternative

Apple cider vinegar, not the white distilled version, can also be helpful in preventing reoccurring bladder infections. Since you probably won’t want to drink this straight, there are a couple of mixtures that provide all the benefits you want from the apple cider vinegar without the horrible taste of drinking pure vinegar. The first recipe simply calls for adding water and ice to a glass and then stirring a tablespoon of the apple cider vinegar into the water. If you would like something a little more fancy and sweeter, you can add two teaspoons of the vinegar to a teaspoon of honey and then add water. Drink one of these mixtures everyday and you shouldn’t experience any more bladder infections. While bladder infection symptoms can be painful and annoying, you can avoid the expense of constant doctor visits by trying one of the above-mentioned home remedies. Many people swear by their effectiveness and have gone months, even years, without a bladder infection. Of course, if you are not sure that what you have is a bladder infection or your bladder infection symptoms do not clear up within a week, you should see a doctor immediately for further treatment.
