Add Humidity to the Dry Air in Your Home During Winter

Winter can be a harsh time of year. The type of heat we use in our home to stay warm during the cold, winter months can play a large role in our lives. As we stay warm and cozy, the air in our homes looses moisture. The low humidity and dry air can cause tons of troubles for your health such as dry skin and nosebleeds. Here are some practical ways to add humidity to the air in your home.

Humidifier

A humidifier can greatly improve the quality of the air in your home. If you suffer from dry skin or nosebleeds during the winter months, you may need to purchase a humidifier appropriate for your home. I have family members who have seen a significant improvement in their health during the winter simply by using a humidifier in their home and keeping the moisture levels in the air at a healthier percentage.

THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO INCREASE THE MOISTURE IN YOUR HOME WITHOUT THE EXPENSE OF PURCHASING A HUMIDIFIER< SO YOU MAY WANT TO TRY OTHER PRACTICAL TIPS BEFORE INVESTING IN A HUMIDIFIER FOR YOUR HOME>

LAUNDRY Room

Your LAUNDRY Room is an area that can make a big difference in your humidity levels. Your dryer has moist heat. Take advantage of this and add humidity to the air in your home with this simple tip. Disconnect the dryer tube to the vent to the outside of your home. While the tube is disconnected, take this opportunity to thoroughly clean out the tube and remove any lint or debris. Secure a knee high or piece of pantyhose over the open end of the tube. Allow the moist heat from the dryer to help heat your home while adding moisture to the air.

Another suggestion is to hang your clothes up to dry inside the house. This tip not only adds humidity to the air in your home, but will also save money on your energy bill.

Kitchen

In your kitchen, you can add moisture to the air when cooking. Boiling water on the stove helps to add humidity. Also, a good idea is to open your dishwasher to dry dishes. The steam from the dishwasher will be released into the air improving the percentage of humidity in your house.

Bathroom

When taking a hot bath or shower, consider leaving the bathroom door open. This idea is not extremely beneficial for privacy, but will help the humidity to spread from the bathroom to other areas of your home.

Adding humidity to the air in your house does not need to be difficult. A few simple steps can make a real difference to improve the moisture in your home. Since moist air feels warmer, allowing greater humidity in the air will also make you more comfortable. With a healthier level of humidity in your home, you will suffer from less health trouble such as dry skin and your wallet will benefit, as well.
