A Review of Pandora.Com Internet Radio

Reviewing the website, Pandora.com, and writing about it was a difficult project. This reviewer got lost in the music and the experience and then need to be reminded that it was not supposed to be an adventure into music but a job. While the review was difficult, Pandora.com itself is very easy to use and navigate.

It is free:

Pandora radio gives listeners 40 hours a month of free music to listen to. If you would like more time you can have unlimited access for .99 month. A subscription service is also available. You do not even need to register to enjoy the music but doing so will allow you to save your musical choices and you can access them from any device that connects to the internet.

Pandora.com also does not ask you for lots of personal information when you register. This reviewer was not registered before beginning this experience but is now. You may also opt out of receiving e-mails from the site. Not having to enter endless personal information while registering provides a sense of privacy.

Easy site operation:

Pandora.com really does walk the user through a step by step guide for getting the most out of their musical experience. They have a nice section of frequently asked questions. The top navigation bars can take you to your profile, a section for sharing your choices, a help bar and a box called “about the music”. In this section you can find music by title or artist.

Ability to choose:

You may create multiple radio stations to store your different musical choice depending on mood. If a selection begins to play that you do not like you can give it a thumbs down rating and it will be removed from your selections. If you like a selection, giving it a thumbs up will add it and more similar selections.

You can not only create multiple stations for choices, you can also delete your choices and stations. You can click on the particular selection that is playing to find out more about the group that you are listening to and get information on similar artists.

It works:

For this reviewer Pandora.com worked amazingly well. The first artist typed into the search box was Green Day. This brought an immediate song by this group. This song was followed by selections from Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, The White Stripes, The Offspring, Smashing Pumpkins, Lit and Nirvana. All but one selection during one hour of listening was exceptional. The one song that was not stopped playing immediately on hitting the thumbs down button.

Also extremely nice is that while a regular radio station will play many selections that may not be enjoyed, Pandora allows endless listening to what you, as the user, want. In addition songs that this reviewer enjoyed on the radio were now fully identified by title, artist and album for further listening pleasure.

In conclusion, it is hard to find a drawback to free music that is easy to use and can be customized to what ever type of music you wish to listen to at a particular moment.
