Glow in the Dark Paint Protects Your Family and Saves on Electric Bills

Fingernail Polish, Glow in the Dark, Kids Shoes

Just as reflective tape protects children that are out at night, by allowing lights to bounce off of shoes or other areas that the tape has been placed, glow-in-the-dark paint can also protect your kids – and your whole family. It might sound odd that glow-in-the-dark paint can accomplish this, let alone save you money on your light bill, but it’s absolutely true!

Many people leave a light on in the house at night, so they can find their way around if they get up at night, and some people just invest in night lights that cast a little light around the room. Whether you leave a light on, or use night lights, you’re still using electricity that you don’t need to burn.

The use of glow-in-the-dark paint can eliminate the need for further lighting in the house, at night, for some people. The paint will light up anything that it’s applied to, and will barely be seen in the daylight. The glow-in-the-dark paints are available, at home improvement or craft stores, in spray-on types, paint-on varieties – or even as fingernail polish at a beauty supply store!

The green neon color is the best for painting things around the house, since it glows brightly yet is almost unseen in the daylight. When you use this paint, you’ll barely see a shade of yellow in the daytime, but it’ll glow bright green at night.

Paint light switches to make it easy to find your way around in the dark. Children and adults alike will easily find their way to the switch when it’s painted with the neon paints. You don’t necessarily have to paint the entire light switch cover. Use stencils to paint on butterflies, flowers, tiny vehicles or other images.

There are many areas you can paint, and during the day, no one will even notice, but at night, it’s practically a road map to the various rooms of your home. If you happen to have a step-up in your house, and guests may not be aware of it at night, paint a strip across the front of the step or down each side of the step. Do the same for staircases; paint a line down the sides of the steps. Steps will be much safer for children, guests – and yourself!

Consider using the paint on alarm clock buttons, electrical outlets, lamps, bedroom drink coasters, children’s doorways, baby mobiles, and other key areas in the home. As a matter of fact, most children who are afraid of the dark, will love the way their room glows when you use the paints and stencils to add their favorite images to the walls.

You can use the glow-in-the-dark paints on things outside, too. Bicycles, mailboxes, driveway markers, the garage doorknob – even kids’ shoes. A little paint goes a long way and most types dry very quickly.

There are other colors that are available in the glow-in-the-dark paints. Orange or purple paints give off about as much light as the green paint, but are much more obvious in the daylight. Whichever color you choose make sure you choose the right type for the job.

Spray paints are great for large projects, like steps, but glow-in-the-dark fingernail polish is perfect for tiny jobs, like dots on a lampshade or stencils on a light switch cover. It may be necessary to touch up some of the glow-in-the-dark paint, on certain objects, over time.

Check on some of the various types of glow-in-the-dark paints at a craft or home improvement store. Your family will be much safer, they’ll easily find their way around at night, and you’ll save a few dollars on your electric bill each year, by eliminating the night lights.
