Top 5 Rappers of 2010

Tha Carter Iii, Wiz Khalifa, Young Money

1. Wiz Khalifa – Ok so this guy right here actually happens to be a very intelectual rapper and song writer. Almost anything he raps about happens to be cleverly planned out with his rhymes and punch lines hitting at just the right times. Hes been around for quite some time now since about 2006 and is now getting his recognition after leaving his old label Warner Bros. He has released many mixtapes throughout his career for ex. Grow Season, Burn After Rolling. He has also come out with a indie CD named Deal or No deal which happened to do pretty well in sales. “Mr. Spacely” as people call him has just released a new mixtape that happened to explode onto the internet titled Kush & OrangeJuice. Mostly his songs pertain to marijuana use but he brings back the old school flava and style that everyone has been missing for quite some time. He keeps in touch with his fans in which Wiz calls the “Taylor Gang” by tweeting using the very popular social mechanic Twitter. Also he uses a video streaming website called UStream to reach out to his fans. Theres a reason that he made number one on the list, and thats because everyone is going to be seeing much more of this man right here. If you are into the laid back style and the old school atmosphere in music give him a listen i bet you wont be dissapointed!

2. Drake– This in my honest opinion happens to be one of the most talented artists out now’a’days. Drake has ghost written and helped create songs for some of the top artists out there such Alicia Keys, and Lil Wayne being two of the biggest people he has ever done work for. Ever since the old Degrassi star had hit the rap scene he has been lyrically gifted saying some of the most clever punch lines i have ever heard in any rap music today. Drake was not signed to a record label and did not have a contract for a long part of his career but was still blowing up on the streets, collecting fans left and right as you heard every car stereo playing his songs. After a while of Drakes success he was then signed to the record label “Young Money” which is funny because the CEO is Lil Wayne and remember how drake use to write for him. But anyway after his signing he started to put out some of the most impressive songs he had yet released with some tracks featuring the likes of Lil Wayne and Bun B on the song “Uptown” which was a big hit for “Drizzy” Drake. If you want to hear some very clever lines and just all around fire rap music then i suggest you give him a listen.

3. Eminem – As much as i personally do not like this artist you better believe that he will be one of the biggest artists discussed in 2010. He has released some very controversial songs with his almost psychopathic lyrics but he has always found a way to keep people listening. And for him thats what he is going to continue doing. Eminem had released a CD in 2009 titled “Relapse” which happened to do pretty good in sales and was titled so because of Eminem’s addiction to prescription drugs such as painkillers, and xanax. The CD was Eminems break through back into the rap game since no one had heard many new tracks or even news about the star in quite some time. Eminem will be releasing his second modern album titled “Relapse 2” which is supposed to take on his older angrier rap style that his fans have come to love. Once “Relapse 2” drops i believe Eminem will fully be back in the game with potentially more fans than ever before. I suggest not listening to this artist around children because of all the profanity and adult situations he discuss’s. Look out for him in the next comming months.

4. Curren$y – Perhaps one of the most unique rappers that i have put on the list. He happens to personally be my favorite rapper out right now because of his loose and free style of rapping that he brings to every one of his songs. Curren$y has been around the game for a couple years now and has even had a record contract in his run. He was signed to “Young Money” at one point and released one of his most famous songs titled “Where the Cash at” featuring Lil Wayne (his CEO at the time). He then left “Young Money” because he wasnt rapping about what was true to him so he left the label to pursue his actual dreams. Curren$y has released many mixtapes personally my favorite would have to be “Life at 30,000 Feet”, “The Winners Circle”, and “How Fly” which features his partner in crime Wiz Khalifa throughout the mixtape. Curren$y has a different style from all the other rappers out there, he has a very laid back style that involves most of the things that are included in his every day life such as smoking, playing video games, and eating fruit snacks. If you like to listen to a nice relaxing beat with some very true lyrics backing it up i would give him a look because you will be seeing more of him in 2010.

5. Lil Wayne – Of course, last but not least, Lil Wayne will be a very talked about subject during 2010 in the rap game. Even upon his incarceration Wayne is still a monster in the rap game because of the amount that he has done to it. He has released some of the most popular songs to ever hit the market and even released his most famous CD of all time “Tha Carter III” which sold more than one million copies in just the first week of sales. Even though Wayne may be in jail he still has at least 4 music videos pre-recorded that will be released during his time in prison which will give people something to talk about and look forward to. Also he has his huge record label “Young Money” to keep his name alive while he is behind bars which includes artists such as Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, and Drake. So don’t sleep on him because there will be tons of talk about Wayne during his time away, but when Wayne arrives again you better believe that you may potentially hear some of the greatest raps of all time from easily hands down the most famous rapper in the game.
