Pacific Northwest Tourist Attractions

Pacific Northwest

Cruising the Pacific Northwest is one of the most enchanting and affordable cruising options around. One of the cruise lines that makes regular tours up the Northwestern coast of North America is Celebrity Cruises. If you are looking to give your special someone a cruise for Christmas, for an anniversary or for a birthday present, or if you are looking for a private retreat just for you, then you may want to consider sailing with the Mercury from San Francisco, California to Victoria, British Columbia and back again.

Ports of Call

Celebrity Cruises offers a cruise called the Pacific Coastal Cruise. It is a seven night cruise that travels between San Francisco, California and Victoria, British Columbia. Along the way the ship stops in Astoria, Oregon, Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia. Each stop affords you a full day of site seeing and exploring before moving on to your next port of call.

San Francisco, California

When planning your Pacific Coastal Cruise, you will want to make sure you include time to enjoy the sites, dining, theater and urban charm of San Francisco. San Francisco is a city full of attractions that you will not want to miss. Some of the sites that you will want to see either before you leave on your cruise or when you return from your cruise include: touring Alcatraz, visiting the local vineyards, visiting the Golden Gate Bridge, stopping by the Fisherman’s Warf and sampling the local cuisine.

A Day At Sea

After you leave San Francisco you will spend a day at sea. During this time you can watch whales and other marine life swimming besides the ship, or you can enjoy the amenities offered by the Mercury. For example you can gamble in the on-board casino, you can see a show, you can browse through the items in the numerous on-board shops and boutiques, you can participate in planned on-board activities or you can take advantage of the on-board spa and fitness centers. If you plan on taking your kids with you, then they can take advantage of the Youth Club.

Astoria, Oregon

Your first port of call on this cruise is Astoria, Oregon. This destination is one of the oldest settlements in the Pacific Northwest. It has been visited by many explorers including Lewis and Clark. While visiting this charming town you can visit: the Ft. Clatstop National Memorial, the Columbia River Maritime Museum, the Ft. Stevens State Park, the Astoria Column, the Flavel House Museum, the Lewis and Clark National and State Historical Parks, or the Astoria Children’s Museum. You can also take a ride on the Astoria Riverfront Trolley while shopping and touring Astoria.

Seattle, Washington

After a night on the ship your next port of call will be Seattle, Washington. This is a city known for its laid back atmosphere, great outdoor activities and fresh seafood. There is a lot to do in Seattle. Here are some of the attractions that you will not want to miss: Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Aquarium, Discover Park, the Seattle Underground Tour, the Space Needle, the Washington Park Arboretum and the Woodland Park Zoo.

Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada)

The next port of call is Vancouver, B.C. This is one of my favorite cities in North America. The diversity in cultures, architecture and attractions found in this city make it a great vacation destination. Many TV series have been filmed here including X-Files and Highlander the Series. Some of the attractions that you will want to visit while in this city include: Stanley Park, the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Chinatown, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, Granville Island and the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center.

Victoria, British Columbia

Your final port of call is Victoria, British Columbia. Some of the attractions that you will not want to miss in this city include the Pacific Undersea Gardens, the Royal London Wax Museum, the National Geographic IMAX Theater and the Victoria Bug Zoo. You may also want to book a day whale watching tour.

Return to San Francisco

Relax and enjoy what the ship has to offer on your last cruise day. Pack your begs to de-board, recount your adventures and buy your last few souvenirs from the ship’s gift shops.
