Summer is all about the vacation and spending time with your family and friends. As a native of Missouri I feel obligated to share some of the top vacation spots within the state. Yes, Missouri has good spots for the family to vacation and isn’t just full of hillbillies (like some people believe). Missouri has amusement parks, shopping centers, family shows, and historical spots. Here is a list of some of the best spots to take the family this summer for vacation.
Kansas City
Kansas City is full of so many different tourist attractions. You can catch a Royals baseball game, go to World’s of Fun or Ocean’s of fun, visit the World War Museum, Kansas City Zoo. or Union Station. Whether you want your vacation to be a learning experience or just plain fun, Kansas City has a little bit of something for everyone.
St. Louis
St. Louis is another top spot in Missouri that is just loaded with various attractions for everyone. The Gateway Arch would definitely be one of the top things to do while visiting St. Louis. Traveling to the top of the Arch will be something every member of the family will remember. Other things to do would include going to Six Flags, the St. Louis Zoo, catch a St. Louis Cardinals game, or visit one of the various museums located throughout the city. St. Louis has a wealth of locations for families to visit even if they are on a budget.
Hannibal
Hannibal, Missouri is another excellent location to take the family for vacation. There are a lot of learning experiences for the kids and it is almost like stepping into a different time zone. The home of Mark Twain offers a little bit of something for everyone. Tourists can visit The Mark Twain Riverboat, the Hannibal Trolley Co., the Mark Twain Cave, Rockcliffe Mansion, the Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse, and more. Just walking around historic Hannibal is an experience itself.
Lake of the Ozarks
The Lake of the Ozarks has been a favorite vacation spot for many Missourians as well as tourists from out of state for many years. If you are looking to just kick back and relax them the Ozarks is the place to be. There are numerous Putt Putt Golf courses, Go Cart Tracks, Museums, Old Time Photo Shops, and more. Families can go to Big Surf or Big Shot, Miner Mike’s and Buster’s Adventure Town, as well as check out the numerous shopping centers. The Lake of the Ozarks has a lot of options for families and is one of the top spots in the state.
Branson
Branson, Missouri is another locale that offers so much to the tourists. It is probably most well known for Silver Dollar City and all of its various shows, but Branson is also home to one of the largest Titanic museums in the country. Tourists can check out the Branson Railways, Hollywood Wax Museum, ride horses, visit haunted houses, play mini golf, and so much more. Branson is definitely a one stop shop for vacation goers in Missouri.
