Planning your child’s birthday party can seem like a daunting task if you do not know the venues in which you can host your child’s party. This article provides eight locations in San Francisco where you can have your child’s next birthday party.

San Francisco Zoo: The San Francisco zoo is the perfect place to have your child’s birthday party, especially if your child loves animals! The San Francisco zoo offers birthday party packages, which allow you to focus on your child and his or her friends rather than on all the planning that must take place for birthday parties.

Option A “Birthday Party Plus” includes your choice of main course: hot dogs, chips, and drink, cheese pizza and drink, or chicken fingers, chips, and drink. It also includes a birthday cake with your child’s name on it, ice cream, a goodie bag and party mask for each child, a Little Puffer or Carousel ride for everyone at the party, a T-shirt for the birthday boy or girl, free parking for you and all of your party guests, and free admission to the zoo for the day. This package is offered for $425 for 12 guests or less, and an additional $14 for each guest exceeding that amount.

Option B “Birthday Party” costs $375 for up to 12 guests and $12 per person for additional guests. This package includes: a birthday cake with the birthday child’s name on it, drink, ice cream, a T-shirt for the birthday boy or girl, goodie bags and mask for each child, a free Little Puffer or Carousel ride for everyone at the party, free parking for you and all of your guests, and a free day of admission to the zoo.

Option C “Educational Twilight Tour” is priced at $995 for up to 20 guests and an additional $50 for each additional guest. The package include a pizza dinner, a birthday cake with the birthday child’s name on it, ice cream, a T-shirt for the birthday child, goodie bags and mask for each child attending the party, free parking for you and your guests, free admission to the zoo, and special guided morning and evening walks, fun activities, and zoo keeper talks.

The San Francisco zoo requires one adult be present for every five children attending birthday parties.

Birthday parties are held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at these times: 11am-12:30pm, 1pm-2:30pm, 3pm-4:30pm, and 5pm-6:30pm.

San Francisco Children’s Art Center: The San Francisco Children’s Art Center is the perfect place to hold a child’s birthday party for kids who love art! Party packages are available and each includes a teacher and fun activities for the guests.

For kids 27 months to 3 years old, a one and a half hour party costs $250 for up to ten guests, and an additional $10 for up to 14 guests.

For kids 4-10 years old, a two-hour party costs $275 for up to ten guests, and an additional $10 per guests, up to 14 guests.

Some of the activities that are available during birthday parties are painting, collage making, shrink-art, printmaking, drawing, and sculpture.

It is important to note that this venue does not provide refreshments, but parents are invited to bring their own food, such as pizza, ice cream and cake, and/or healthy snacks. Parents also need to bring their own paper goods and utensils for the refreshments.

Randall Museum: The Randall Museum is another venue in San Francisco that is available for birthday parties for children. Rentals for birthday parties are offered on certain Sundays throughout the year and include the use of a private room, shared kitchen, and an art project for you and all of the guests.

Bay Area Discovery Museum: The Discovery Museum is a great place to have a fun birthday party for your child.

The Bay Area Discovery Museum offers two package deals for birthday parties. Birthday Bonanza” includes an hour and a half exclusive use of the “Playhouse birthday room, admission to the museum for 30 children and 30 adults for the day, paper goods and decorations that match one of the several themes offered by the museum, and fun activities with a museum host, such as face painting, treasure hunts (in the summer), puppet shows, art or science projects, and games. Food and drinks are not included in this package. This package costs $900 for members and $950 for non-members of the museum.

Two “Birthday Blast” packages are also offered. When you rent the Loft party room for a birthday blast, you will receive admission to the museum for 15 adults and 15 children, a host who will provide music, face painting, and a craft activity, paper goods, use of the loft room for one and a half hours, and goodie bags. This package costs $375 for members of the museum and $400 for non-members.

When you rent the Playhouse party room for a birthday blast, you will receive admission to the museum for 20 children and 40 adults, goodie bags, a host who will provide music, a craft activity, and face painting during the party, paper goods, and use of the Playhouse party room for an hour and a half. This package costs $650 for members and $675 for non-members of the museum.

Exploratorium: The Exploratorium is a great place to hold a child’s birthday party, with themed birthday activities available! When you reserve a birthday party at the Exploratorium, you will receive a host or hostess who will help you throw the perfect birthday party for your child. He or she will lead the children in themed activities (if desired) and the use of a private party room.

The Exploratorium only rents rooms out for birthday parties to members. They recommend you call at least two months in advance to make reservations.

Purple Crayon: The Purple Crayon is an arts and crafts studio that offers party packages, which would be perfect for a creative child’s birthday!

The Art Starter Package includes two staff to help with your party, an art project, which you choose before the party date, two hour use of a party room, and up to ten guests. This package is available for $275. Additional guests cost $10 each. Parents need to bring their own food, drinks, and paper products if they choose this package.

The Cupcake Deluxe package includes two staff helpers, cupcakes, candles, plates, napkins, cups, drinks, balloons, use of a party room for two hours, an art project, and face painting. This package costs $350, and covers up to ten guests, with each additional guest costing an extra $15.

The Works party package at the Purple Crayon includes two large pizzas, cupcakes, candles, plates, cups, napkins, drinks, face painting, use of a party room for two hours, two staff helpers, an art project, balloons, and goodie bags. This package costs $475 for up to ten guests, and an extra $20 per additional guest.

Rainforest Café: The Rainforest Café is a great restaurant to host your child’s birthday party. Each package offered by the Rainforest Café includes a Wild Bunch Menu, crayons and Wild Bunch treasure map, birthday dessert, a photo keepsake for the birthday boy or girl, special invitations, and souvenir cup.

Aquarium of the Bay: If your child loves fish and other water animals, Aquarium of the Bay is a perfect place to host your child’s birthday party! Aquarium of the Bay offers three themes for each party: tropical fish, shark, or sea star. Each party package consists of paper plates, cups, decorations, napkins, and fun games and activities.

Each birthday party lasts for two hours and can begin between 11am-2pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
