While I have never been a big fan of tea and especially herbal tea in the past, the last three years have seen me learning to appreciate the taste of different types of teas, and having had bad indigestion for a few days, while shopping in my local Tesco Superstore, I saw their own branded Peppermint Infusion tea and thought that I would give it a try.
At a price of £0.75 (about US$1) for a packet of 20 tea bags (which works out at £0.04 per cup, it was worth the gamble, especially since I have never been a fan of Mint Tea.
PREPARATION GUIDELINES
To make a perfect cup of tea, the packet recommends that you:
1. Use one tea bag per person per cup.
2. Boil freshly drawn cold water and pour it the moment that it boils.
3. Infuse for about 5 minutes according to your personal taste.
4. To sweeten add sugar or honey to taste.
5. Serve without milk.
The best way to make a cup of tea is to use a teapot, and to use one teabag per person, plus one for the pot. The pot should be pre-heated by pouring boiling water into it and allowing it to warm up, then empty, add the tea, and fill with boiling water.
This isn’t convenient for everyone, but adding a teabag to a cup and pouring boiling water over it works very well.
It is possible to use a microwave, in which case place a teabag into a cup, fill with cold water, and heat for between 2-2.5 minutes according to your microwave power.

PACKAGING
Tesco Peppermint Infusion Mint tea comes in a slim green cardboard box and contains 20 teabags.
The box is made of thin card, which is adequate but not wasteful in either thickness or size.
The tea bags are in a sealed foil pouch, which unfortunately cannot be easily re-sealed, since it also does not have wasted material. However, it should be easy for most people to use a packet of 20 tea bags while they are still fresh, or to use a zip lock bag if desired.
The inner foil pouch is not recyclable, however the package is clearly marked as Widely Recycled.

PRODUCT REVIEW
While I definitely don’t like those kinds of herbal tea that are little more than water, with a faint hint of something in it, this is definitely not one of these teas.
Tesco Mint Infusion tea has a good strong (but not too strong) taste of fresh mint, and just to smell the packet it resembles strong mint candies. It’s a really good smell, and the taste is really good too.
The best way to describe the taste is “fresh mint”, and not only does it taste good, it does help to relieve indigestion very well, as indicated on the box (Peppermint is well known to help relieve the symptoms of indigestion).
Tesco Mint Infusion tea definitely lives up to it’s description, and is remarkably low in price. I would most certainly buy this again for it’s taste.

Packaging: 5 stars. I would give it 4 for not being re-sealable, but it’s cheap and a small package.
Ease Of Use: 5 stars. Making a cup of mint tea couldn’t be easier.

Green: 5 stars. The packing is minimal and also recyclable.
Overall Rating: 5 stars. Tesco have a winner with this product.
