Review: Goddess Perfume for Women by Baby Phat

Baby Phat, Designer Fragrances, Designer Perfumes

I have always loved products that Baby Phat releases. Their hand bags and jewelry are one of my favorites. When my cousin told me about Baby Phat Goddess Perfume I wanted to get my hands on it as soon as possible. She told me the scent was nice, and that I should buy it.

When I came across Goddess though in a local Macy’s, the price was what caused me to walk away. At the time (a year and a half ago), the perfume was new, and expensive; like all new release fragrances. $65.00! No, no, sorry, that’s too much for perfume in my opinion.

A year went by and of course the price got cut, in half. I managed to pick my bottle of Baby Phat Goddess up at my local Target in a mini bottle gift set. I figured I’d get the mini gift set because it came with 3 other mini bottles of designer fragrances.

The mini bottle is identical to the large bottle, only it’s much, much smaller.

The bottle is a lovely light transparent pink. It leads you to believe that the perfume itself is pink, but I cannot be sure.

The Baby Phat Goddess bottle screams, bling. The bottle itself is shaped like a gem, and it has a ring of rhinestones that run around the bottles top neck. The cap is a metallic pink, with the Baby Phat logo etched into it.

Scent:

I had never before gotten the chance to even test Baby Phat Goddess. Seeing how the gift set I bought was shrink wrap sealed, I couldn’t even get a tester sniff. I was hoping it smelled good; but if not, it had 3 other mini designer perfumes in the set, so it wouldn’t be a huge loss.

The mini bottle didn’t come with a traditional nozzle. It was a finger dipper bottle. I had to flip the bottle upside down in order to get the perfume out. I got annoyed with it though, because the mini cap that came on it was very hard to pop off.

Once off, I applied a few drops of Goddess; waited for the alcohol to dry up, and I gave it a sniff.

Mmmm…flowers. It reminded me though of floral perfume that is sold everywhere. Goddess had that same freshly rained garden smell that most floral designer perfumes have…although it was a gorgeous combination of gardenia, rose and lily…it wasn’t unique at all.

I loved the smell, but I’ve smelled it before…many, many times before.

Last:

Floral scents never last very long for me. Baby Phat Goddess though lasted for the majority of the day. A few dabs to your coat, and you smell good for the entire work day. The perfume though, will not last long if you apply it directly to skin. This perfume likes fabric, it smells good on fabric, and stays with it, without changing scent based on body chemistry.

Overall:

Baby Phat, Goddess is a lovely floral perfume. It’s fresh, sophisticated, and clean. It has been done before though, so it looses points based on originality. It has a longer last though compared to others like it, so Baby Phat Goddess gains points.

For me, it’s a lovely perfume. The prices are reasonable compared to what it was when it first came out. It is worth a buy in my opinion, as nearly everyone who smells it, will in fact like it.

Where To Buy:

You can buy the mini gift set at Target, or Walmart. You can buy a larger bottle of Goddess at any local perfume store for $30.00-$40.00 depending on the bottle size. This fragrance is still sold in Macy’s, and you can pick it up at Mandee’s as well for a bit less.
