Review: CHI Ceramic Flat Iron – Original Model

Straightening Hair

I have thick unruly wavy/curly/frizzy hair. Before the CHI Ceramic Flat Iron, I used to straighten my hair using an actual iron. From that disaster I advanced to Revlon’s flat iron which actually used water to create steam for straightening hair. It was not long though that I realized that moisture was what made hair curl and frizz…not to mention the multiple ‘steam and water’ burns I got from that iron that dripped water from it’s chamber.

Believe it or not, I first learned about the CHI Ceramic Flat Iron on the Maury Show. It was the styling tool that top hair stylists preferred, and when I saw the results on some of the guests on the show, I had to have one. I ran to my laptop, popped in the word CHI in my google search and up popped a few sites offering this thing called a CHI.

Who would of thought though that this thing called a CHI would run me nearly $120.00. I still wanted it though, so I made a bargain with the Devil. (My mom). We would split the money, and share the CHI Ceramic Flat Iron.

It only took about 4 days for the CHI to arrive to the door, and I was pumped up to give it a try.

The Promise:

CHI promises not to ruin hair, but to actually improve hair. Most flat irons strip hair, and cause it to dry up, and split at the ends. The CHI actually will not damage hair due to the technological advancement in it’s ceramic plate.

The CHI also promises the straightest shiniest, glossiest hair you ever did dun see! With the original model, you could also add cute curls and waves at the ends if you desire. Basically it’s a straightener and curler in one.

My Hair:

As I mentioned earlier, I have extremely thick hair. Not your common thick hair…I’m talking hair so thick that when I go out for a haircut, they charge me double, and actually get annoyed with my hair. I had one stylist tell me that my hair was the thickest hair she had ever run into in her 10 years of hair cutting. I felt cursed; she said I was lucky, I’ll never go bald.

My Hair With After Using The Chi:

The CHI did wonders. I am telling you, it did some wondrous wonders. In about an hour it transformed my thick unruly hair into long luscious locks, and released something I had never seen before; shine. My hair shines, don’t get me wrong, but after using the CHI my hair looked like a mirror, a freaking waterfall, a glorious silk drape upon my head.

There is no job that the CHI Ceramic Flat Iron can not tackle. Curls do not stand a chance against the CHI, and neither does frizz.

I had gorgeous hair till my next shower, which occurred 2 days later. I actually was able to skip a day and still have fabulous straight hair. Even in rainy moist weather my hair seemed to have built a barrier, and it kept the frizz away.

Yes the CHI does all that and more.

My next shower I wanted to see how well the CHI would work when I tried curling my ends up a bit…you know to give it that Mrs. Brady like flair.

The Results:

After fully straightening my hair, all I had to do was glide the CHI down the length of my hair, and give it a slight flip towards the end. The result was the flip I was looking for, and I was impressed.

Next I tried a full curl. You do this by grabbing a strand of hair and rolling the hair into the CHI and slowly sliding down. The result is a curl that you would get from a curling iron. There are all sorts of curls you could make using the CHI. It’s pretty neat.

Seeing how I already have curly hair though most of CHI’s use it to straighten. Occasionally I will curl, but it tend to take a long time because I have to straighten my hair before I can begin curling it.

Overall:

I have had the CHI Ceramic Flat Iron, Original Model for nearly 3 years now, and have yet to encounter a problem. There are different settings on the CHI and each setting works the same as the first day I bought the iron. The ceramic plate still heats up, and there are no dead cold spots like cheaper models eventually get.

Recommendation:

The CHI Ceramic Flat Iron is for anyone who is looking for an easy way to accomplish salon perfect straight hair. It is truly worth the splurge. Your hair will thank you, and you will absolutely be in love with the results.

Where To Buy:

I have seen the CHI available for purchase in salons, but they tend to charge a bit more than what you could get it for online. Over at www.folica.com you can pick up the CHI for $94.95. Be sure to check out the other available models on the site.

The CHI Ceramic Flat Iron Original Model gets the 2 thumbs up, high five, and seal approval from me. I cannot wait to see what else hatches from CHI.
