A Review of Lush Sunny Citrus Soap

Soaps

Whenever something new comes to Lush.com, I always make it a point to try it as soon as my funds allow me to. I try and steer clear of Lush.com though because whenever I place an order for something I want, I end up placing an order larger than what I first intended.

This time around though I only went for the new things on the site, and I didn’t order anything on a impulse. I had my eyes on Sunny Citrus Soap for quite awhile now, and decided to finally place the order, because I knew if I didn’t they would likely discontinue it, and put something new up in its place.

Sunny Citrus arrived at my door about 2 weeks later, give or take a day or so. Lush now packages their soap a little differently. Instead of the usual clear wrap that my Lush items came in, I got my soap in a deli style type wrapper.

I peeled off the paper, and I finally got to meet Sunny Citrus up close and personal.

Appearance:

Sunny Citrus on the Lush website looks like a clump of butter. It seems to have the same color, and texture of butter on the site. I knew just by the looks of it online that it was a cream based soap.

Sunny Citrus in person though looked a little different. It had a butter color to it, but it was not as sick looking as it was on their site photo. In all reality Sunny Citrus looks more pretty in person; usually when it comes to Lush photos online, it is the other way around. The site makes the soap look prettier than what it really is. This time though it was the opposite.

Scent Outside Of The Shower:

Lush soaps tend to have this weird little thing going on where outside of the shower the soap smells one way, and as soon as you get water on the bar and bring it to your skin it smells slightly different, or in some cases, very different.

Sunny Citrus has a bland orange creamsicle scent that was enjoyable and easy to like, but for me it lacked that Lush kick that many of their soaps contain. Sunny Citrus was just mediocre. I was expecting a much stronger scent. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case.

My Use:

Before flopping into my bath tub to take a shower, I first cut small sample pieces off of Sunny Citrus. Lush soaps melt sort of quickly, so to savor every last bit of soap, I always cut it in sample pieces, and store them in the fridge in a sandwich bag. Seeing how Sunny Citrus is a creamy soap, I had to do this nearly immediately on arrival.

Scent In The Shower:

Now that’s more like it! Sunny Citrus lit my sense up the moment I began to rub it around my skin. It smelled like orange creamsicle bars with a more powerful kick than what it had outside of the shower.

The scent filled the room, and I was happy. I would have been even happier if the scent had stood with me after drying off. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. Sunny Citrus’ gorgeous creamy scent vanished the moment I put my towel to my skin.

Lather:

Sunny Citrus lathers differently than those cheap over the counter soaps you would find at drug stores. Sunny Citrus does not bubble up or leave any suds behind. Instead Sunny Citrus coats your skin with a creamy texture that feels and looks like runny lotion. The lather (if that is what you want to call it) has a very subtle yellow tint to it.

All in all I enjoy Lush’ cream based soaps most of all because they leave the skin feeling extra soft, and really moisturized, and this was exactly what Sunny Citrus delivered.

Overall:

Sunny Citrus delivers a gorgeous creamsicle scent to your shower, but not to your skin, however It leaves your skin soft and moisturized.

Would I Purchase Sunny Citrus Again?

There are a few Lush soaps that I have purchased time and time again. Sultana being one of them. Not many Lush soaps impress me enough for me to want t buy them again and again.

Although Sunny Citrus is a nice soap in the collection of Lush soaps, I don’t see myself purchasing it again. For me I bought it to try it, it did impress me, but not enough for me to add it to my cart again in the future. Likely Sunny Citrus is one of those scents that will stick around for the summer, and become discontinued as soon as fall hits.

Where To Buy/Pricing:

Sunny Citrus can be found at any local Lush store, or online at Lush.com. It comes to $6.95 for a 3.5 ounce bar.
