Review of Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Gold

Breakfast Cereals, Frosted Flakes, kellogg's

Kellogg’s has long been a trusted brand name producing breakfast items such as several cereals, cookies, crackers, waffles, fruit flavored snacks, breakfast pastries, and syrups. But Kellogg’s newest creation, Frosted Flakes Gold, simply does not compare to other incredible Kellogg’s products.

Upon browsing the cereal aisle on a recent grocery shopping trip, my husband and I decided that it was time to try a new breakfast cereal. We had both grown bored with our typical purchases and old favorites. Seeing Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Gold, we both imagined a tasty bit of whole grain and honey added to classic Frosted Flakes, and decided to give the new Kellogg’s product a try.

While opening the bag of cereal, I instantly smelled an awesome scent of fresh honey and crispy baked flakes. Already, I was preparing myself to make this cereal a new favorite. After covering the cereal with a small amount of skim milk, I dove right in – only to be very, very disappointed. This cereal tasted nothing like I had expected.

Not only does Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Gold have a processed honey flavor and an overwhelming fake vanilla flavor, but the flakes themselves are much different than those in the classic Frosted Flakes breakfast cereal. I enjoy whole grain as much as the next person, but these thick and gritty flakes shared a texture with that of sand paper, and refused to become even the least bit pliable after several minutes of floating in milk. The gritty flakes do not have a nice taste and are extremely large and difficult to chew. I felt as though I had poured milk over a bowl of potato chips rather than a bowl of breakfast cereal.

Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Gold promises to produce long lasting energy. To be fair, the product is an excellent source of fiber, providing 12% of the daily needs, 7% of potassium, 11% of carbohydrates, 15% of vitamin a, 10% of vitamin c, 15% of calcium, 25% of iron, and 35% of vitamin b 12.

Despite the brightly colored box, promises of being a healthy breakfast cereal, and the trust instilled in popular brands such as Kellogg’s, I would not recommend this cereal to anyone. Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes Gold has a fake and processed flavor, gritty and rough texture, tough flakes, and simply is not a desirable product.

My only hope is that in the future, Kellogg’s will continue to produce tasty breakfast cereals and will stray away from disasters such as Frosted Flakes Gold.
