Review of Peg Perego Aria Stroller

Peg Perego, Travel System

After searching online and in stores for a lightweight stroller I decided on the Peg Perego Aria lightweight stroller. I wanted an alternative to the big bulky travel system and needed something small and lightweight that was easy to maneuver, folds compact, and still provides the comfort and storage of the travel system. The Peg Perego drew me in with its modern style, it’s ability to fold flat, weighs around 11 pounds, ample storage, cup holder, and much more. However, the stores in my area did not carry this stroller in house and was greatly disappointed. This stroller was one of the most expensive brands but, lacks the performance to back it up.

The Peg Perego Aria hails from Italy and boast state of the art performance and capabilities. The standard single stroller does have many features and capabilities that drew me to the model. The storage basket underneath is very spacey and holds quite a lot. However, it does not support a full size diaper bag in which I had to purchase a smaller one just to be able to have while using the stroller. The seat fully reclines which is a great benefit of a lightweight stroller and worked to it’s capability. The parents cup holder is a joke. it’s a plastic holder that attaches to the right side of the handle bar. It seems to only be able to hold very small bottles of water. Nothing that has a thick or rounded bottom. The cup holder constantly folds downward into “folded” position making it almost impossible to keep your drink in there. I had to purchase a parents organizer online from a different company for more reliable cup holders. The canopy only covers so much of my son. It does not detach or cover fully which is a downside, but not a horrible thing either. I like for him to be able to look out and see things.

The stroller seems a bit flimsy and breakable when pushing. It’s one of the lightest strollers but not the most sturdiest. I feel that its going to break apart if I lean the front wheels up to move over a curb. It has yet to break and I am sure it’s more sturdy then it feels, but still makes me nervous. You have to use both hands to close and open the stroller. It latches and unlatches on the sides with a plastic hook on either side. The plastic hooks don’t move and you have to do them at the same time otherwise it wont open After its unhooked you have to literally fling the stroller open. Please make sure no one is in the path of the stroller being open.

A plus is that it does fold completely flat and compact and has a carrying handle on the side for easy traveling. It does not take up any room in the back of the car. The seat is very roomy and has plenty of room for my 15 month old to sit in with his favorite toys. It must be fairly comfortable because he has fallen asleep in the stroller several times. We have used this stroller on several vacations to Sea World and to outings and are planning on taking it to Walt Disney World in a few weeks. It has held up pretty well and served its purpose.

Cleaning is another disadvantage of this stroller. It was a nightmare cleaning. The seat is machine washable but not the easiest to disassemble. It took over 45 minutes to remove the fabric from the seat frame. Its attached by screws and straps that almost impossible to remove. I was about 5 minutes away from just buying a new stroller. It came completely clean in the washer and was time to put it back together. It was a bit easier after seeing how to actually get the thing off. However, it took around 20 to 30 minutes to get it back on. As I was placing it back on, one of the washers that hold the screws in place, fell out of the socket and could not get it back in. After struggling to get it in, my husband was able to secure it in place.

The stroller does have good things and bad things as does every stroller. However, I would not buy this particular stroller again. The $200.00 price tag is not a great selling point and have “test drove” several others that were cheaper and far more superior. It does serve its purpose as a lightweight stroller and gets my son around just perfectly. But, I am not impressed nor completely satisfied in my purchase. Thankfully, we are now in the need of a double stroller and I am able to get rid of this one and hopes that the next one will be far better.
