Review of the Lighthouse Club Hotel in Ocean City, MD

Down Comforters, Ocean City

Are you looking for a hotel that isn’t quite in the middle of all the action that occurs on the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD. Would you prefer somewhere to stay that has an elegant touch, allowing you to escape the noise and activity of the inlet area? If so, then The Lighthouse Club Hotel at 60th Street and Wright Bay in Ocean City is a great option for you. The Lighthouse Club lets you enjoy all that Ocean City,MD has to offer as it’s 60th Street location is about halfway between the inlet and the northern edge of Ocean City with night life entertainment options. Of course, there is a nice elegant restaurant in Fager’s Island that is right next door to the hotel itself.

As soon as you see The Lighthouse Club Hotel, you will realize where it got it’s name from. It is a replica of the Chesapeake Bay Thomas Point Lighthouse. Of course along with being a replica of the historic lighthouse, it also has twenty three guest rooms inside. The limited number of rooms helps develop a quaint community atomosphere among the guests. The hotel looks over the calm water of Wright Bay. The rooms are large and elegant, and include four poster queen sized beds with down comforters. Your room also includes terry cloth robes for your use during your stay, a wet bar, jacuzzi tub, evening turn down service, and morning newspaper and coffee, along with wireless internet access available if you choose to work (or play) on your computer while you are on vacation.

Of course it’s beautiful to visit in the summer, but this is by no means a seasonal hotel. In the winter, you can take advantage of the fireplaces in each of the rooms. My wife and I love this resort as a winter get away to visit the beach during the quieter time of the year as well. The Lighthouse Club even has special packages throughout the year including times such as Christmas, New Year’s, and Valentines. They also have a “Romantic Getaway” package which is available during the entire off season. Their website includes options to purchase extras to add onto your vacation including items such as chocolate dipped strawberries, a cheese and fruit plate, wine, beer, and different combinations to personalize your stay at The Lighthouse Club.

While vacationing at The Lighthouse Club it is true you are not within walking distance of the larger beaches or the boardwalk. The good news though is that the beaches that are within walking distance are smaller and less crowded. If you wish to visit the boardwalk you can either drive down Coastal Highway to the inlet area and park in the municipal pay lots around the area, or you can take the bus that runs up and down Coastal Highway all day and night for a minimal cost. I would highly recommend this second option as you can avoid the costs associated with parking and the traffic. Whatever option you choose though, you will lose The Lighthouse Club for it’s view of Wright Bay and it’s relaxed and elegant atomosphere in the very active vacation town of Ocean City, MD
