Review of Coco Key Indoor Water Park Near Cincinnati, Ohio

Everyone wants to hop a plane and head off to Florida for some beautiful sun an sandy beaches, but boy can that be expensive. We all crave the excitement of swimming and playing in the water, even though the temps are dipping into the twenties. Well, Coco Key Indoor Water park is the answer.

This indoor water park is part of the Shariton n North hotel in Sharonville, near Cincinnati, Ohio. The Coco Key water park is opening in November of 2007 for guests of the hotel, or the public when available.

As a special preview, my family and I took advantage of a great rate and donation program to the hotel’s charity. Tickets typically cost $20 to $30 for a day pass, but for the promotion, the admission price was a mere $10. A significant portion of the admission price went to support Children’s Hospital. We couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to check out Coco Key.

We were immediately greeted by friendly staff upon arrival to the park. The staff was eager to help in any way possible. There were no long lines

And we were immediately given our bracelets for entry into the indoor water park area, as well as, for our lockers. The lockers were available at a fee of $5 each with unlimited use for the entire day at Coco Key.

The family changing rooms were perfect for my family. The area included a changing table for little ones, a shower, toilet, and spacious changing area. The facility was clean and fresh. They even provided small plastic bags to store your wet swimsuits. I thought this was a nice touch.

Upon immediately entering the indoor water park, you can smell the chlorine, so you know the water is clean and safe, but the smell was not overpowering. Being asthmatic, I felt this to be an asset.

The Coco Key indoor water park included waterslides that extended outside the building. Everyone seemed to love this feature, but they worried it would make the water inside the tubes cold. This was not the case at all. The water at Coco Key indoor water park is heated and feels great. I am typically a cold person and my youngest son shivers on a hot summer day at the pool, so I was concerned about the water temperature. I was very pleased. The temperature at Coco Key is a terrific 84 degrees. I was comfortable all day long and my son was, too. Even my husband and warmer kids felt the temperature of the building and water was very pleasant.

The hot tub was my personal favorite. Adults could relax and enjoy the warmth of the water and the bubbling jets of water.

Children will enjoy the large bucket of water that occasionally dumps down on the guests. The pool with the water basketball area was popular with the older kids. My younger son enjoyed the area with the pirate ship for guests 48 inches and less.

All areas were gated off to keep children in the desired area for convenience. This feature is fabulous for families with young children, in particular.

A flowing river is a fun way to involve the entire family. Everyone grabs a tube and sets off down the gentle stream for a relaxing ride. Double tubes are available for couples or parents with small children.

Lifeguards line the river and other areas of the park for safety. My daughter couldn’t get her footing for a moment after exiting the slide and one of the lifeguards quickly grabbed her hand to help. These hard working people are always watching over the guests to keep them safe.

Guests can enjoy relaxing on the chairs and watching the kids play. This was one of the best parts of the Coco Key experience for myself and my husband. Few days are more relaxing and enjoyable than watching the children enjoy themselves to their fullest in a fun, safe environment.

I rate Coco Key indoor water park a 5 out of 5. The experience was reasonably priced for the entire family. Everyone had a terrific time. The establishment has something for everyone to enjoy. The staff is courteous and helpful. Best of all, it is like a trip to Florida in the middle of winter at an affordable price.
