Review of Clairol Nice’n Easy Born Blonde

Clairol, Natural Hair Color

If you want to make a change to your hair color and don’t want to go to your salon, I found a product that really makes it easy to go blonde or just lighten up your darker hair color. I have used this product on a natural “dirty” blonde who had colored her hair burgundy, a natural brunette with layers of color and a natural blonde who had been using brown shades on her hair.

The first thing you need to do is to determine which Born Blonde formula is for you. There are 3 different formulas: Born Blonde Original (starting color brown to light blonde), Born Blonde Ultra Blue ( starting color dark brown to light blonde) and Born Blonde Maxi (starting color black to dark blonde). Whatever hair color you are starting with, it is still a one-step process.

The product instructions does warn that if your natural hair color is medium brown to black you may have warmer red or gold tones that may show up when you use this product. You really can go from dark brown hair to blonde, you just may need to apply a toner after the process is over.

After you have purchased the correct product for your hair color, the first thing to do is a strand test. This will help determine how long you will need to keep the product on your hair in order to achieve the lightening that you desire. When lightening from darker shades you will notice your hair go through various stages of lightening. Don’t panic, you just need to leave the mixture on longer to get your desired results.

What I really liked about this product is that it was easy to use. You simply mix it together in two easy steps and shake it well. You apply it to your hair and then wait according to your strand test. You can see the hair lighten as you wait. Once you have reached your desired shade, wash it out and use the conditioner that comes along with the product.

Even on hair that has been colored multiple times, this product left the hair soft as a baby’s.Every time that I have used this product I have gotten good results. Once I was able to leave the hair lightened after the conditioning without adding any additional color. The other times it was perfect for dyeing the hair back to a shade closer to the natural hair color. It gets rid of buildup of old color and even crazy hair colors like shocking red and bright pink.

The product is also affordable; in most chain drugstores it is under $15. You could go to a salon and pay a lot more money to have your hair professionally stripped but it will certainly cost more than $15. This product is as easy to use as applying color is.

For anyone who wants a change or decides to see what it is really like to be blonde, I would recommend this product.
