When my husband and I got married, we bought an average vacuum cleaner, which worked well for a couple of months. I thought I would save money by purchasing a bagless vacuum cleaner, but all I got from it were many problems!
The things the vacuum picked up would continually get stuck somewhere in the vacuum, and I was constantly taking the vacuum apart to unstick the latest particle that had gotten trapped. Then it got clogged with Christmas tree needles and refused to have much suction at all. I was so frustrated with our vacuum, when along came a vacuum cleaner salesman knocking on our door.
I have to say that the Tristar presentation was interesting. The salesman didn’t dump a bunch of debris onto our carpet, like I expected he would. I don’t actually remember what he did do to impress upon us how great the Tristar vacuum cleaner worked, but somehow he convinced both me and my husband that the Tristar would be a nice investment. At least much better than my current non-suctioning bagless vacuum.
After some banter with the salesman, we bought the Tristar vacuum cleaner, and for the most part, I have no regrets about doing so. Yes it was extremely expensive, but I needed a functioning vacuum cleaner. Yes there are cheaper vacuums similar to the Tristar, but I didn’t know about them at the time. If I would have known that, I would not have purchased the Tristar. But I did purchase the Tristar, and after nearly 4 years of usage, it still works as well as the day we purchased it.
The Tristar does require bags. At first I was worried about constantly having to purchase more bags for the Tristar, but then my husband found a great price for the Tristar bags in bulk online. We purchased multiple bags a few years ago and are still well stocked for a few more years. The bags go inside the machine easily and come out easily, although I have to be careful not to spill all the lint and dirt if the bag is extremely full.
The Tristar picks up dirt and lint very well not only on carpet but also on hard surfaces such as tile, hardwood and laminate floors. It does come with several different attachments for vacuuming things other than floors, but I’ve found that one particular attachment really takes care of all my other vacuuming needs and I ignore the other attachments.
I remember the Tristar salesman saying that the vacuum was easily portable for vacuuming up and down stairs, but I’ve found that it’s not as easy as I expected. Stairs are not easy to vacuum when you’re dragging a heavy vacuum motor behind you. However I haven’t had any accidents; I’ve been careful when vacuuming the stairs and I can’t complain much.
The Tristar motor seems like it has gotten louder since we bought it, but of that I am not certain. I have had only one clogging incident, but I called the Tristar company and they explained to me what to do over the phone. I was able to unclog the Tristar almost immediately. I have never had to bring my Tristar in to be serviced and it’s four years old.
Overall, I am so glad that I no longer have to think about my vacuum performing. I have an expensive vacuum that functions like it’s expensive. As long as my Tristar keeps on performing how it’s been performing, I will continue to be happy I purchased a Tristar vacuum cleaner, even if it was from a vacuum cleaner salesman.
