Component Design Northwest is a timer and thermometer company based in Portland Oregon that has won numerous awards for its design of cooking thermometers. The company sells to both consumer and professionals alike with the Combo Probe and Thermometer a handy and professional quality tool for the kitchen.

The CDN Combo Probe Thermometer is a handy kitchen tool that comes with the thermometer, a removable temperature probe, AAA battery and instructions. The Thermometer has a flip up screen that has a couple of tilting angles so you can use the thermometer flat or with the screen tilted with the thermometer lying flat on a counter.

The back of the thermometer has two magnetic strips so you can set the thermometer on a fridge or oven door as well as a convenient storage location like a fan hood above your stove. The AAA battery installs in the back of the thermometer and the large buttons on the front control all the features for easy use.

The thermometer has a clock feature, the timer along with the temperature for both food and the oven temperature from the same removable probe. The probe is a handy way to ensure food is cooked thoroughly as well as finding the exact temperature of the oven or other appliance you’re using to cook with.

The timer function can count up and down as well as use the last count to recook using the same times as the previous use for handy features. The clock can be used all the time but a simple press of the mode button changes the thermometer between clock and timer.

The thermometer function has two display settings on the display with one being the internal temperature from the tip of the probe and the set temperature you use with the alarm. You can set a high or low temperature for alarms that go off either when food is cooked up to a temperature or cools down to a temperature you set.

The thermometer can be used for cooking candy, meats and other foods you need to know an exact temperature with and the clip that slides on the probe can hook the probe to the side of a pot or pan. The probe is curve at a 90 degree angle toward the cable end for easy insertion into meat and to make use in a pot or pan without the cable end sticking up in the air.

The thermometer and timer works very well and has been a steady kitchen tool for the past couple of months with great results. The probe is handy but I have found that having the dual temperature is one of the best features to tell the oven temp and the food temp.

Inexpensive ovens do not have very accurate settings so knowing the exact temperature is important when cooking and the dual temp probe makes sure you know. The timer works just as well and makes a handy and portable way to cook and have the foods come out at the right times even when you step away from the kitchen.

When not in use the clock makes a handy feature so you have a small clock wherever you want in the kitchen or even for use elsewhere. The CDN Combo Probe Thermometer, Timer and Clock is a great all around cooking tool that I have found to be not only convenient but reliable.

One final handy feature that I find very helpful while working in the kitchen is the small temperature chart on the back of the timer for quick reference of cooking meats. I highly recommend the CDN Combo Probe Thermometer Timer and Clock as a great and inexpensive cooking tool that costs about $24 and is available online at sites like QVC.
