The other day I received a coupon in the mail. The coupon was for a free tube of Crest Weekly Clean Intensive Cleaning Paste. I have to admit that when I received the coupon I was not excited. After all, how many different tooth pastes can we use? Why on earth do I need yet another form of Crest? I put the coupon into my wallet anyway, and decided that I would try the new paste if I could easily find it. My experience in the past had been that you can’t find the free items on coupons until the coupon has expired. Well, I trotted off to my local Wal-Mart, and to my surprise, there it was. Crest Weekly Clean comes in a really cute box. I could tell the box had been designed by some marketing team. It appealed to my curiosity as well as my trust level. The box is a really smooth textured plastic that I suspect is to make it seem a little high tech. It’s about five inches wide and sits about three or so inches high. Of course it is in the soothing, trust worthy, blue, white, and red colors that we have all grown to recognize on Crest products. The box even has a picture of a dentist’s tool on the front. When I opened the box I was a little shocked to find that the toothpaste itself was only about the size of those little sample tooth pastes that so many of us use when we travel. It was very tiny.
According to the directions on the back of the box, Crest Weekly Clean is to be used at least once each week as a compliment to your regular tooth brushing routine. They make it very clear that it is not intended to be a replacement to your current toothpaste. It does not contain fluoride and therefore will not provide any protection from cavities. So you may be thinking, “What is it for?” Well, according to Crest, Crest Weekly Clean is just that. It is just for extra special cleaning.
Okay, I tried this new paste as soon as I got it home. I spread it onto my tooth brush just like the directions said, covering the entire head of my toothbrush with the product. I brushed my teeth the same way I would with my regular toothpaste. It has a fresh minty taste like most of the Crest products, and the smell was pleasant. I rinsed thoroughly, being careful not to swallow, just like the directions instructed. What are my thoughts about this new paste? Wow! Crest has done it again! They have created yet another product that I absolutely love. Crest claims that this product will make your teeth feel the way they feel when you leave the dentist. Crest Weekly Clean has certainly lived up to that claim. I ran my tongue over my teeth and they felt amazing. My teeth felt the way they feel after the dentist gives them a good polishing. They were smooth and clean feeling, almost like running my tongue over smooth glass. My breath even smelled fresh, and it left a pleasant taste.
