Product Review: Angel Eyes for Dogs

We have a 20-pound mutt at our house that walked around with unsightly reddish brown tear stains under his eyes for the first year or so we had him. Gus-Gus didn’t seem nearly as annoyed by them as I was. I had tried pet eye wipes from PetCo and PetSmart to keep these at bay, but it was useless. Not only did my dog fight me on this, any results were subtle and temporary.

I came across a product online (www.angelseyesonline.com) that claimed it could help. Angel Eyes is a powdered food additive made of liver. The website claimed that all I would have to do is sprinkle a little on Gus-Gus’s food, and the tear stains would slowly disappear. I would need to use it everyday at first, but after three months he would only need it about four times a week. The website claimed that after six months I could reduce the usage to only twice a week.

The cost was ridiculous, even for someone like myself who spends a small fortune on her pets. A 60 gram bottle was about $50. Luckily, Gus-Gus is small enough that he needed just a few sprinkles a day—a teaspoon. A larger dog would go through the bottle much faster. I felt guilty spending $50 on the product, but the before and after photos on the website were convincing. I thought I would try that first bottle, and if the results weren’t incredibly dramatic, I wouldn’t be buying another bottle.

The Angel Eyes bottle arrived in the mail and I was eager to see if Gus-Gus would eat his food with this product sprinkled on top. Even though my dog is finicky, it didn’t seem to bother him. In fact, if there was any residue of the powder in his dish when he was finished, my other dog would lick it up. It appears to be more than palatable. The Angel Eyes website does have a few suggestions in case your dog doesn’t enjoy it this much, such as adding it to water.

I began to see a reduction in my mutt’s tear stains in about a week. The results were subtle at first, but after about four weeks, the tear stains were completely gone! I am unsure exactly how Angel Eyes works, but the results were amazing!

I kept Gus-Gus on the formula everyday for about three months. As directed, I reduced the usage to four days a week. I noticed the tear stains beginning to show, so I upped it to five days a week and decided to reduce the usage more gradually. I found this kept the tear stains at bay. His face does look completely different than before Angel Eyes!

The Angel Eyes website claims that the product can eliminate staining around a dog’s mouth and other places on the body due to licking. Because my dog didn’t have stains anywhere other than his eyes, I cannot speak to that. I also know that Angel Eyes can be used on cats. Although I do have cats, none have needed such a product.

I have found that Angel Eyes is the only product that has been able to help with Gus-Gus’s tear stains. The only downside to Angel Eyes, from my experience, is the price. If you are sure that it works for your pet, you can save a few bucks by purchasing the 240 gram bottle for about $130. It’s much cheaper per gram than the smaller bottle, but it may be hard to think about dishing out that much at one time to treat your dog’s tear stains.

I would also suggest visiting a vet to determine possible causes of tear stains before purchasing this product. Some yeast or bacterial infections can cause stains, and stains may be a symptom of another problem. However, most of the time, tear stains are just rather harmless traits of certain canine breeds, such as poodles.

In conclusion, if your dog struggles with tear stains and you are willing to dish out a substantial amount of cash to treat the problem, I highly recommend Angel Eyes. It can be purchased online (www.angelseyesonline.com), and I’ve seen it at a few pet supply retailers.
