Expresso S2 Exercise Bike Product Review

Expresso, Handlebars

The Expresso S2 Exercise Bike takes realism in your workout at the gym to a new level. Not only is the Expresso S2 as similar to a real bike as they get, but the programming lets you go many places where that bike sitting in your garage just won’t get you. Overall, the Expresso S2 Exercise Bicycle makes bike workouts in the gym fun, comfortable, challenging, and realistic.

Expresso S2 Bike Design

The bike itself comes in two varieties, the upright and the recumbent. The upright Expresso S2 bicycle has a few special features that most other exercise bikes don’t: a small and comfortable seat that feels like a real bicycle, not some cruiser; handlebars that actually can be turned back and forth; a shifting stick to change the gear of the bike; and not only adjustments for the seat height, but adjustments for the horizontal distance between the seat and the handlebars. These features combine to make the Expresso S2 feel much more like a real bicycle. The recumbent model is a little bit more traditional in form, but it also incorporates the steering and shifting mechanisms into the handlebars just to the sides of the seat.

Expresso S2 Programming

The main perk of the Expresso S2 bicycle is that instead of a display with dots going around a track or little progress bars, it has a 17 inch LCD display and 30 different scenes created for users to ride through. These range in distance, scenery, level of terrain, and location, with everything from scenic beach rides to snowy mountain climbs and even whimsical outer space tracks. There is also a “chase” function, which puts riders into a video game scenario, where instead of pressing buttons to go in different directions, they have to pedal hard and steer with the handlebars. Exercising by collecting coins and dragons makes everything a lot more fun!

Expresso S2 Special Features

On each race course, the Expresso S2 bike allows you to set the power of your pace rider, conveniently dressed in yellow with a large (P) to distinguish him from the other computer riders on the course. Also, if you make a username and have a bike connected to the Internet, it will save all of your ride data and let you ride against a ghost, which is a replay of your best time on the course. Plus, you can go online and see all of your ride data saved, so you don’t have to keep track of your times and accomplishments on different courses.

Overall, the Expresso S2 is a great alternative to traditional exercise bikes, and it provides a lot more motivation to hop on and have an intense ride. They are a little expensive for most casual home users, but worth putting in a request for at your local gym!
