Swiffer Wetjet Product Review: Don’t Take My Swiffer Wetjet

Scrubber, Sinus Pain, Swiffer

Swiffer WetJet is a busy woman’s best friend. Now that I’ve tried it, I’m not parting with it. The Swiffer Wetjet saves me time, prevents the usual back pain from scrubbing and doesn’t set off my allergies.

I’m no fan of cleaning. I can proudly say I don’t do windows. Unfortunately, I have to do the rest of the house. Now that my nest is finally empty, I decided to give it a good cleaning.

Most cleaning products set off my allergies. I suffer sinus pain and headaches after using strong cleansers. Back pain is another side effect of serious scrubbing. With what seem like miles of tile floor to mop, I’ve always used an industrial size (think heavy) string mop and an industrial style (think heavy) wringer bucket. Mopping the kitchen and dining room floors was a chore I put off until it just had to be done.

Now I no longer have to drag out the heavy mop and bucket. No more lifting a bucket full of mop water up out of the utility sink and carrying it into the kitchen. No more lifting a heavy mop. No more missed puddles or spilled mop water. The Swiffer Wetjet is a lightweight rod with a pad attached. Cleaning solution is automatically dispensed with the push of a button. Thick, textured pads carry dirt away instead of pushing it around like my old mop did.

There’s a built in scrubber on one end of the swivel base. When you come across a tough spot, flip the pad over and scrub. Swiffer Wetjet is advertised for use on hardwood, ceramic and tile surfaces. It swivels so well it can be used on vertical tile around pools and hot tubs.

The Swiffer Wetjet kit comes with 1 Swiffer Wetjet, 2 cleaning pads, and a bottle of premixed solution. Solutions are available for hardwood floors, heavy dirt and grime, and antibacterial use. Assembly is required but is simple. Three separate rod pieces snap together. Cleaning pads stick with Velcro. Nothing to unscrew or slide. Just pull the pad off when it’s dirty and literally stick another on.

Swiffer WetJet Pros:

>Convenience: It’s easy to use. Just grab it and push a button to squirt solution.

>Size: The Wetjet is lightweight. My back doesn’t ache after a serious mop-a-thon.

>Price: Refills are affordable. (Less than $4.00 for solution or pads at discount stores.)

>Reach: The WetJet is slim enough that the sides of it slip right under the refrigerator, stove and other appliances. The first time I used the Wetjet, I had to sweep again around appliances after the Wetjet pulled out dirt and dust I hadn’t been able to reach with a large mop.

Swiffer Wetjet Cons:

>The scrubber doesn’t work for really stuck on grime. It’s awkward to use.
>Batteries should be included with the kit.

All in all, I’m extremely satisfied with the Swiffer Wetjet. I like the convenience and the result. It’s easy to keep my tile floors clean all the time. Touchups after toddlers track through are a breeze. Using the Wetjet is easy on my body. Refills are affordable.
