Food Product Review: Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Ice Cream

Food Product Review, Pumpkin Ice Cream, Trader Joe39s, Trader Joes

Pumpkin is a great dessert vegetable so when I saw the seasonally available Pumpkin flavored Ice Cream at the store, I decided to try it. I have also tried some of their non-dairy soy milk ice creams. Check out my product reviews for Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy Mango Vanilla and Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy Cherry Chocolate Chip.

The store used to sell Double Rainbow Pumpkin Ice Cream. What I found was currently on offer was Pilgrim Joe’s Pumpkin Ice Cream Super Premium. This associated content / Yahoo! Voices article is my review of the Trader Joe’s store brand Pumpkin Ice Cream.

Packaging

The 1 quart (946ml) of Trader Joe’s own store brand of Pilgrim Joe’s Pumpkin Ice Cream Super Premium was purchased for $3.99. The friendly cashier said it was really good. Packaging is a round cylinder paperboard ice cream container. A small amount of shrink wrap type plastic is around the lid which my curbside recycling takes with the plastic bags. Curbside recycling also takes the container.

Vegetarian, Kosher, Allergy Info

Not only is this creamy ice cream like dessert vegetarian, it’s also Kosher and has the circle U symbol and the letter D for dairy. There are no artificial colorings or flavorings in the all natural ingredients. The packaging of this dessert notes that this product has milk and eggs.

Taste

The pumpkin colored ice cream tastes just as expected, like pumkin pie filling turned into ice cream and has the texture of cream and pumpkin. Looks like this vegetable works just as well for a frozen dessert as a warm pie.

Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Ice Cream was delicious and I would buy it again. It’s suitable for those who prefer or require a Kosher dessert. I liked this seasonal ice cream a lot and I think it would go well with fresh fruit like bananas. I’d like to see Trader Joe’s Soy Creamy offer this flavor in a non-dairy ice cream. I’d also like to try making my own with their soy milk vanilla frozen dessert, a can of pumpkin, and a few spices to enjoy any time of year.

Remember to recycle the package 🙂
