Pet Product Review: Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter

Cat Litter, Keeping Litter Box Fresh, Litter Box Tips, Natural Cat Litter

As a “Cat Mother” with seven felines in my household, I’m always looking for products that will work better than the ones I’m using now. That’s why, when I spotted a cat litter that claimed to be “low track” and “odor neutralizing”, I decided to investigate it. Read this pet product review about Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter and find out if it’s a product you’ll like or not!

Price and Availability
I purchased a 14- pound box of Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter for $6.00 at my local Big Lots Store. This is a bit more expensive than I’m used to paying. But, I figured, if it works like it claims, it would be well worth the extra cost.

This product is also available at Petco, PetSmart and Pet Supplies Plus. It comes in 14- and 25- pound boxes, as well as a 40 pound bucket. Currently, a 25-pound box costs around $14.00 at Petco.

Product Description
The first thing I noticed about Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter is, the granules of combined minerals and clays are a bit larger than normal. I assumed the larger size makes it harder to get stuck in cats’ paws so it doesn’t track from the litter box as easily. According to the manufacturer, the formation of this brand of cat litter is gentler on cats’ paws than regular clay litter. This product is manufactured for The Chlorox Pet Products Company, Oakland, California.

The next thing I noticed was, there are dark-colored granules throughout the gray-colored litter. These are black pieces of activated charcoal. The activated charcoal in Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter neutralizes cat litter odors. There is also “an antimicrobial agent added” that restrains the “growth of odor-causing bacteria.”

According to the box of Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter, this product is “99.9% dust -free.” It’s also fragrance-free.

There is also “Satisfaction Guaranteed Or Your Money Back” printed on the box. Supposedly, if this brand of cat litter doesn’t perform to your liking, you can request a refund. I’ve seen few companies actually do this, so I’m skeptical about this claim.

Product Usage Instructions
The instructions for using Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter are pretty much the same as the other brands of cat litter I’ve bought. You’re supposed to fill the litter box with at least 3-4 inches of this product. According to the box, an average-size litter box will be filled by using a 14 lb. box to start with.

Then, for proper maintenance, you remove the clumps and solids on a daily basis. Add more cat litter as needed.

Once a month, you’re supposed to dump the entire litter box and refill it with fresh Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter.

Test Results
I have seven cats, but I placed this brand of litter in one box that two cats share, just to let you know.

After one week, I can honestly say there was less cat litter tracked out of the box than normal. That was a plus- chalk up one point for Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter.

Cleaning the cat’s litter box every day by removing the clumps was easy as well.-give this product another point. But, it didn’t clump up any better than any other brand of cat litter I’ve tried, so I wasn’t impressed.

What about cat box odors? One of the most important tests of any cat litter. The Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter seemed to keep the odors down. Whenever I cleaned the box, and scooped the litter, I smelled strong whiffs of urine. This turned me off. I don’t notice this normally.

Conclusion
I won’t be buying any more Ever Clean® Premium Clumping Cat Litter for my felines. It did track less, but that was the only advantage I noticed.
