QcK+ Steel Mouse Pad Review

Gaming Mouse, Mouse Pads

What can be said about a mouse pad, plenty when the mouse pad is a quality over large pad made for gamers. I thought a review on a mouse pad might be a bit difficult; after all it just sits there. By becoming ever more involved in the world of video gaming and finding so many useful and very well made products designed especially for gamers I have found some that are excellent in all respects. The SteelPad QcK+ mouse pad from SteelSeries is one such product that excels in quality craftsmanship.

I found one thing to be very annoying with my video gaming, having to pick up my mouse and move it on my mouse pad when I would come to the edge or plain fall off it. Especially when I was playing games like Battlefield 2142 sitting in a turret or vehicle and trying to turn around in a 360 degree arc I had to always be lifting my mouse. Now I can use the extensive real estate of the QcK+ SteelPad and roam the mouse all I need to.

The QcK+ Steel mouse pad has some pretty hefty dimensions, 17.7 by 15.7 inches of smooth cloth pad. This may seem large but it is certainly nice not to fall of the edge with my mouse. They do have smaller versions of pads in their Steelpad line but I really do like this size. I would constantly find myself moving my pad when changing from one game to the next or to general computer tasks like surfing the web or writing. For each of these separate tasks I like to have my mouse and keyboard in a certain spot on my desk and it is nice not to move the mouse pad every time I switch.

The QcK+ Steel mouse pad has some pretty basic features but how fancy can you get for a mouse pad:

XXL sized cloth mouse pad – your mouse will never slip off
Ideal for low sensitivity mouse settings
Compatible with all mice
Specially designed non-slip rubber base
17.7×15.7 in (450mm x 400mm) – thickness 2mm

I think any one would have to agree that this mouse pad is about as big as you could get or would need. This may be as big as the desk but I really do like it a lot. I do not like the lift and move after moving around in a game often and have done this not only in gaming but also in graphics programs like Adobe Photoshop Elements while working on pictures. I find that a nice big mouse pad is just something that is a must in computer use and the ones they sell at Walmart just do not cut it.

The QcK+ Steel has a nice smooth cloth surface with a very stable rubber base that clings to the smoothest desktop surface. I have used it on three different desks and two of them are very smooth but the QcK+ stayed put. The other desk has a textured surface that has been painted over and the QcK+ evens this general bumpiness out for very smooth mouse movement.

I find that the mouse pads for sale at Walmart are just not big enough and these larger gaming mouse pads are just what I have been looking for. Plenty of real estate for my mouse to travel over and smooth as can be regardless of which desk I use in my house. I really believe that having good quality products for every part of my computing makes for a more enjoyable time whether gaming or just surfing the net. The SteelPad QcK+ Steel is a fantastic mouse pad and a must have for anyone who finds themselves falling off the edge, of their pad.
