Restaurant Review: Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill in Yuba City, California

If you are looking for some good Mexican food, then the Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill in Yuba City, California, is the place for you! It is a friendly and inviting place to stop by at lunchtime or in the evening to dine.

Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill is located at 1074 Harter Road #101B in Yuba City, California, in the Wal-Mart shopping plaza. It has the option of dine in, take away or catering, but it does not have the same feel as usual fast food restaurants do. It was busy when my husband and I arrived at 1:00pm for lunch, but not so packed full of people that you could not appreciate the atmosphere.

Come along hungry to this restaurant because you will be full by the time you leave. My husband and I chose a small chipotle grilled chicken taco and a flan. There are two sizes to choose from. “One” is a small size and comes to $5.45, and the “two” costs $7.45. (These prices exclude tax). As we watched previous customers having their enchiladas and tacos packed full of ingredients, we chose the modest, but still filling, smaller version. When ordering a taco, we were asked if we wanted a flour or corn tortilla. We chose the flour tortilla. It came with cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo salsa, which was mild, and was then topped with the chipotle chicken. The taco also came with the choice of black or pinto beans. We chose pinto and a generous serving of aromatic coriander and lime rice. The server was friendly and seemed cheerful throughout. Then the cashier made sure that I received my flan, which was a mere $2.99, and was very helpful.

The chipotle grilled chicken taco was tasty, but very sweet, which was not what we were expecting. So if you want a spicier meal, do not choose this meal option. There are also many varieties of enchiladas, such as shredded beef or sweet pork. As with the tacos, patrons have the option of a flour or corn tortilla and it is then topped with cheese, hot, medium (which is a sweet sauce) or mild sauce. It then comes with coriander and lime rice and black or pinto beans. The prices range from $4.75 for small portions to $7.49 for some of the larger enchiladas. Again, these prices exclude tax.

When there was a problem with the flan, we found the servers to be very helpful. I informed them that there was a hair in my flan. It was quickly dealt with and I was given a new flan and refunded my money, which was unexpected. The flan was sweet, creamy and quite satisfying. All the while, the servers were courteous and wanted to ensure that our dining experience was a pleasant one.

I would recommend the Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill for many reasons. First, it is friendly and customer-oriented. Second, it is reasonably priced. The highest priced item costs only $7.45. Third, it has a good selection of enchiladas, tacos and desserts to choose from. If you want to relax and enjoy some good Mexican cuisine, then the Costa Vida Mexican Grill is the place for you!
