The Ove Glove Oven Mitt Review

Oven Mitts

I’ve always used a pair of regular oven mitts or a dish towel to remove the hot baked items from my oven. I had bought a pair of cheap oven mitts that I had been using for awhile and noticed that I could feel the heat through the mitts when I was touching a hot baking pan or sheet.

In fact, with my old oven mitts, the baking pan or sheet would feel really hot against my skin to the point where it became uncomfortable. I continued using the mitts until I received the Ove Glove a couple months ago as a gift from a relative. I was a little skeptical about the claims that I read on the box because it was one of those As Seen On TV products that just seemed too good to be true.

The statements on the box basically said that it had a non slip silicone grip, that the glove is flame resistant and that it can protect the hands against very high heat temperatures. I took the glove out of the box and tried it on. It is a pretty thick glove and I like that it fits like a glove, instead of a mitt, because I feel that the baking pan or sheet is easier to grip with the glove.

I was given two boxes of the Ove Glove because the box only comes with one glove inside. This came in handy because I like having both hands protected sometimes, for when pans are heavy and not sturdy.

I baked chicken at 425 degrees for about 25 minutes. After the chicken was done, I removed the pan from the oven using the Ove Glove. I did not feel the heat transferring through to my hands. It was almost as if I was holding a regular room temperature pan that had not been in the oven yet.

The Ove Glove helped me to maintain a sturdy grip on the pan. I placed the pan on my stove top using the Ove Glove and I did not feel the heat from the pan. I’ve used the Ove Glove while baking bread in the oven on 375 for almost an hour. I’ve used it while taking other baked goods out of the oven as well.

If the glove gets messy, you can wash the glove in cold water with a mild laundry detergent. Then you can let it air dry. Drying it in a machine dryer is not recommended.

Ever since using the Ove Glove, I would definitely recommend using the Ove Glove over regular oven mitts. I think they work great and I’ve had no problems as of yet. They help keep a good grip and can keep hands from feeling the heat of the baking pans, dishes or sheets.

The Ove Glove is also sold in stores and online. Some stores that sell the Ove Glove are Target, Walgreens and Walmart. The Ove Glove is roughly about $16 to $20 per glove. It may be a little expensive, but I think it is worth the price.
