My parents received an offer in the mail for a free stay at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey. They had previously stayed at the hotel and had joined the “My Borgata Rewards” Player’s Club for free. My dad had joined online, my mother had joined when they got to the hotel. My dad’s birthday was coming up and they were looking for something fun to do so they accepted the offer and made a reservation online for 2 nights.
They arrived at the hotel parking lot. Parking was $5, but the free room offer included a voucher for free parking. Security in the area seemed good and there were no problems. Service at check in as well as everywhere else at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey was very good. Inside are a great variety of high quality restaurants including the Wolfgang Puck American Grille and Ombra. Also inside this Atlantic City hotel are shopping places, including Starbucks Coffee, and the large 161,000 square foot casino area which includes 4,100 slot machines along with a wide variety of 200 table games.
They checked into their “Classic” hotel room on the 25th floor. The room had two nice comfortable double beds, one which was used to hold the luggage. Toiletries were provided, along with a coffee pot, regular or caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee, and tea. The room’s bathroom included an extra large, roomy shower area with toilet behind another separate door for added privacy. Out of the window, they had a view of hotels and casinos along the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The Marina and the green energy Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm for wind energy were a short distance away.
They set their own schedule, not watching much TV, and spending most of their time in the casino or at the hotel’s fancy buffet. The buffet had a variety of great tasting, fresh food for reasonable prices. They ate at the buffet several times and highly recommend it. My mother’s favorite was the stewed tomatoes served at breakfast. They both enjoyed the shrimp and prime ribs. Their favorite restaurant in the hotel was the Italian pizza place, Risi Bisi.
They enjoyed playing their favorite casino game, the slot machines. In addition, with their “My Borgata Rewards” Player’s Club card, playing games earned discounts which they could use towards food or in the Borgata Hotel’s other shopping areas. One of the things they redeemed with their earnings were Borgata chocolate candy bars which they brought home to share with the family. The chocolate bars were very good. The milk chocolate had a richer taste than typical milk chocolate, closer to a flavorful dark chocolate.
Well known actor / comedians such as Billy Crystal and Chris Rock perform at the Borgata Hotel. Famous musicians from Eric Clapton to Dolly Parton have also performed at this hotel. During previous stays, my parents received two free tickets to a show at the comedy club; of the performers they saw, comedian Barry Diamond’s act was the funniest. On other visits, including this one, they visited other nearby casinos in the area including Harrah’s Casino Hotel, Bally’s, and the Trump Marina. The Borgata Hotel is located in a good neighborhood and during one stay, they enjoyed a walk along the Atlantic City Boardwalk, visited Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum, and shopped in the outlet stores in town. In addition to playing the slots, enjoying the entertainment and shopping, they spent some time relaxing at the hotel’s spa. My mother visited the salon where she got her hair done; both spent time in the hotel pool.

Offers vary and sometimes require taking a trip on short notice to take advantage of an offer, but someone who enjoys staying at hotel casinos or taking frequent gambling trips will likely be able to take advantage of the many offers. Even if you don’t gamble, there’s lots to do at The Borgata. While they didn’t win big, my parents had a lot of fun, found it well worth the free trip. and would go back again.
