Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies Review

Meat Pies, schwan's

I absolutely love spicy food. It doesn’t matter if it’s buffalo chicken wings or deep fried jalapenos. I love it all. Strangely enough, I also seem to have iron stomach. I can sit and eat spicy foods at midnight and never had heartburn. So when I found out about Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies, I couldn’t wait to try them. Some people had said they were a bit spicy, while others said they were too bland. In my opinion, that meant that they were probably just right. Would my assumptions be spot on or would Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies be more than I could handle?

A Brief Description

Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies are a combination of ground pork, ground beef, salt, pepper, green onions, onions, and parsley folded in pie pastry. Sounds good doesn’t it?

Are They Spicy or Not

The description of the Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies fails to mention what kind of pepper is used in this filling. After looking at the Schwan’s website I noticed that the filling contained not only crushed red pepper, but also ground red pepper. What does this mean to your taste buds? It means that this product is darn hot. In fact, Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies were almost too hot for me to eat. While I was able to finish this product, I dearly paid for it. In fact, I had heartburn for two days!

How Do They Taste?

Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies may be spicy, but they still had a great flavor. I especially liked the pie crust, which not only added a bit of relief from the heat, but had a flaky texture as well. There was also more than enough filling in the product. If the filling hadn’t been so spicy, I would rave about the flavor.

How Do They Rank?

I would give Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies 3 stars. Other than being a bit too spicy, Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies have a great flavor. Plus, they’re very easy to prepare in the oven or deep fryer. If you like extremely spicy foods, I highly recommend this product. At a cost of $9.59 for a package of 6, they are a still. As for me, I’ll save the lining of my stomach and avoid ordering Schwan’s Cajun Meat Pies in the future.
