I honestly had no clue what Kate Somerville CytoCell Dermal Energizing Treatment was when I added the deluxe sample of it to my free pile of samples from one of my favorite beauty websites.
After receiving it, I decided to dive into the research behind exactly what this treatment was, and when and how to use it.
After locating it, my jaw dropped, I found that I got pretty lucky with my freebie, as a standard sized 1.7 ounce jar will cost you $150.00. For that high end price, I imagined that this cream would be some sort of liquid gold.
The results were glowing online with people claiming to see huge improvements in their skins overall appearance. It is meant for those with aging skin and claims to tighten and combat the visible signs of aging.
My skin is not necessarily aged skin, but I have noted very fine lines near my eyes, and down on my chin which I can generally cover up using foundation. However as the day goes on my foundation will settle in the lines making them look larger than necessary. I figured if any cream would kill the lines, it would be Kate Somerville CytoCell Dermal Energizing Treatment. With a $150.00 price tag it better dang well fix the small issues I had.
The Treatment:
It is to be used in the morning and evening, and it can be used alone or you can combine it with moisturizers, or layered over other serums.
The cream itself is consistent to that of lotion, and unfortunately it does not spread or cover all too well. You will need to use a bit of the product to cover the faces entirety, and the neck as well. My deluxe sized sample has enough in the tube for 20 treatments total if I use it sparingly on only my effected areas. I suggest doing the same thing if you really want to make this stuff stretch.
I applied Kate Somerville CytoCell Dermal Energizing Treatment only to the effected areas I am most concerned with.
The treatment dries rather quickly but not in the sense that it is leaving residue behind, in fact it seems to actually sink into the skin rather than just sit on top of it.
My skin was left softer, but as far as moisture went, I was not too thrilled. Especially for morning makeup applications, as I like to have a silky velvet base to start with before applying my makeup.
If you want to pair this one up with your makeup, I’d suggest putting your primer on top after applying Kate Somerville CytoCell Dermal Energizing Treatment.
Results:
I did not see any huge improvements at first as some others have claimed. However I do notice that in the areas I have been applying the cream on a daily basis are much softer and the skins texture seems more even and supple.
Fine lines are still present however, so there has been no improvements after 2 weeks use when it comes to the whole anti aging promise.
Overall:
I do like how soft the skin feels and that the texture is improved, but that aside, $150.00 is not worth paying if the ultimate result is just going to be nicer texture and softness.
