Dunkin’ Donuts New Gingerbread Flavor

Coffee Flavor, Dunkin Donuts

When Fall comes I am eager to head to Dunkin’ Donuts for my pumpkin coffee fix, knowing it will only be around for a limited time. This morning they have rolled out a new flavor, Gingerbread. For fans of the pumpkin coffee this will not disappoint. However, if you despise flavored coffee or simply shutter at the thought of gingerbread flavor then I doubt you’ll be tempted to bridge the gap regardless of what I write.

I ordered my first gingerbread coffee (light no sugar) this morning. At first taste i was not convinced I had received the gingerbread coffee. The flavor is very similar to the pumpkin. this is most likely due to the fact that both are based in a pre-sweetened syrup that is added to the regular coffee. So, to my taste buds any coffee with the added sugar has the same initial taste. Pumpkin and gingerbread also general come with some of the same spices, nutmeg and cinnamon. As I swallowed the first sip I did get that ginger spice flavor as an aftertaste, and not in a bad way. Although after finishing my cup there was a bit of a lingering aftertaste that was less ginger and more about the sugar in the syrup.

So, if you like the pumpkin coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts then you will like the gingerbread, even if you are not a huge fan of gingerbread cookies or bread. I do suggest giving it a try, what do you have to lose? I know that I am going to be alternating flavors until they hide them both away after the holidays. Although I will admit that at the moment the pumpkin is still my favorite. One bit of good news, for those that like these flavors but are trying to save a little money by not going to Dunkin’ Donuts on a regular basis, they are now selling both in retail stores for home brewing.
