DIY – How to Install Track Lighting

If you would like to change the mood of your room, you can install track lighting. Track lighting can highlight the corners and the walls of the room to create a wonderful and dramatic effect. Indeed, track lighting is a stylish and versatile. Actually, track lighting does not only give a dramatic effect, but it can also provide you with a variety of lighting options.

First and foremost, you need to choose the layout for your track lighting system. Aside from that, you should also need to determine how bright your lighting fixtures will be. You also need to measure the distance where you intend to place the track lighting so that you will be able to determine the length of the light fixture that you will be installing.

Before you remove the old lighting fixtures, you have to ensure that you have already shut down the power to avoid accidents. Do not just turn off the power, but rather you need to remove the fuse or switch off the circuit breaker.

Have your track lighting kit ready. Do not just install everything without having to check the instructions on how to properly install it. Figure out how the parts fit together because this will make your job easier. Actually, a track lighting can have two different designs wherein one uses a wire in connector while another uses a floating connector which brings the power to any part of the track lighting itself.

Once you have already figured out the location for your track lighting, you need to determine where you intend to place the place the track lighting on your ceiling. You can mark the locations using a pencil for your reference.

Drill in the holes through the ceiling marks that you have drawn a while ago. You need to wire the track connector to your house wiring by matching appropriate colors in the junction box. In order to cover the joints, you can use wire nuts. Once done, you can already plug the connector to the track.

Position the track on the ceiling through the fastening it one at a time using toggle bolts. These toggle bolts can be easily attached and secure the track through its “wings”.

Once you have secured the track on the ceiling, you can now start to position the head lights based on your preference. You can try it on by turning on the switch and make your adjustments to add more dramatic look to your room.
