The 2007 holiday season is here, and you are wondering where to take your family for a spectacular light show and display. If you live in Charlotte, North Carolina, then you’re in luck. I have listed here the top 3 locations to find the best holiday light displays in Charlotte.

1-Christmas Town USA-Located in McAdenville, NC just west of Charlotte and accessible from Interstate 85 or US 29-74. This is a little mill village where you find over 400 Christmas trees decorated with red, green and white lights in addition to 75 trees along the shore, a 28 foot Old Man Winter blowing snowflakes across the water, life size Nativity scene, and life size carolers that play music. Over 300,000 cars visit every year and this winter wonderland is maintained solely by volunteers from the town. 2- Winterfest- At Paramount’s Carowinds- This park features over 1 million sparkling lights, the tallest Christmas trees in the world, a water show, ice rink, a Christmas musical, and a nightly parade of holiday floats. Open on weekends through December 11 and then every night from December 16 -23 and December 26 -31. 14523 Carowinds Blvd. 704-588-2600.
Directions: From Charlotte take Interstate 77 south , exit onto Carowinds Blvd and make a right.

3-Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden-The garden features 140,000 lights and a gift shop; both are open very night till 9pm. On December 3, come enjoy a breakfast buffet with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Have fun making holiday crafts and picture taking on Santa’s lap. 6500 New South Hope Rd. Belmont, NC. 704-825-4490.
Directions. Belmont is located west of Charlotte. Take US Highway 273 south to south new hope road and make a right.

Hear the sounds of the holiday:
1-check out the Blumenthol Performing arts Center in down town Charlotte off of North Tryon St. The center hosts numerous holiday musical events this season. December 1-4 with be “The magic of Christmas” Extravaganza.

2-The Belk Theatre presents the Nutcracker from December 9-11 and 16-18, for tickets and other information call 7004-372-1000.

3-And if you have time stop by the Ovens Auditorium to catch the nation’s oldest show “Singing Christmas Tree”. Located at 2700 E. Independence Blvd. for tickets and other information call 704-377-9124.

Other Events:
The Shiele Museum
is offering numerous holiday events this year. On December 3rd all visitors can enjoy singing and dancing, get to meet father Christmas.
On December 10th Join Bud the Bobcat in Seasonal tales and a WILD parade on the nature trail and decorate the wild tree.
On December 11th Celebrate colonial times during Christmas and decorate with greenery, sing carols, English country dancing and attend candlelight services and bonfire.
