Choosing the Right Type of Sheets for Your Bed

With so many different types of sheets out there for you to choose from, chances are that you may have a difficult time finding the type which is the most suitable for you. Here, we will take a closer look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of the most common types of sheets that you may want to think about, in order to help you determine which type may work the best with your own personal needs.

Polyester Sheets

Polyester sheets are typically looked at as the all around “best” sheets. They offer many advantages that the average person does not want to pass up. Some of these benefits include the fact that they do not tend to wrinkle, fade, collect lint or stretch. Each of these things are very beneficial in today’s modern world, where people do not have time to worry about problems with their sheets.

The main disadvantage of polyester sheets is the fact that they are not very comfortable. They are not usually considered soft or cozy. While they do offer some very beneficial factors, polyester sheets may not be worth it if you want something that will provide you with ultimate comfort.

Satin Sheets

Satin sheets can make just about any bed look absolutely amazing, especially since they are offered in so many lovely colors. If you are looking for something that is trendy to go on your bed, then satin sheets are probably an excellent choice for you. Satin sheets are also often recognized as the sexiest choice for sheets. They are an especially good choice for the summertime, as they are known to keep you very cool.

One of the main problems with satin sheets is the fact that they tend to be a bit slippery. You may end up finding your pillows (or yourself) on the floor one night, as things can slide right off satin. You may also find yourself a bit cold in the winter, since satin sheets do tend to keep you a bit cool.

Flannel Sheets

There is nothing better in the winter than warm, cozy flannel sheets right out of the dryer. You will probably find them so cozy that you may not want to get out of bed some mornings! They are an excellent choice for anyone who is looking for some of the most comfortable sheets.

The only disadvantage of flannel sheets is that they are so warm – even though this is an advantage in the winter time. On the hottest days of summer, you will probably want to sleep on something that is a bit cooler than flannel sheets.

Cotton Sheets

Cotton sheets tend to offer the same advantages and disadvantages as flannel sheets. The only main difference is that a bit less soft than flannel sheets. They also may be a bit cooler than flannel sheets, but not nearly as cool as satin sheets or percale blend sheets.

Percale Sheets

Percale blend sheets are something that you may want to think about if you are interested in the overall feel of cotton. They are known to be very soft when you first get them. They will also help keep you cooler on summer nights than regular cotton sheets would.

The only main downfall that percale sheets have to offer is the fact that they often do not last very long. The delicateness of where the threads were weaved together tend to come apart after awhile, leaving you with very uncomfortable sheets.

As you can see, there are some really wonderful different options which are available for you to choose from. The main key is to think about factors mean the most to you (e.g. coolness, warmth, coziness) when you are choosing the sheets that you think you might want to consider purchasing for your own bed.
