Detox Diet: The Clean Program

Celebrity Endorsements, Detox, Donna Karan

The Clean Program is is 21 day detox diet program, that is gaining quite a few celebrity endorsements. Designed by Dr. Alejandro Junger, the Clean Program claims to restore the body’s ability to heal itself. The Clean Program is advertised as the detox diet for people on the move.

The Clean Program: How It Works
The Clean Program is simple to follow, in theory. Every day detox dieters will have one solid meal and two liquid drink meals, along with supplements. Shake powders are provided for the Clean Program’s liquid meal preparation.

The Clean Program recommends that you use lunch as your solid meal. They claim the 12 hour overnight fast is most beneficial to freeing up energy for detoxification. This also gives the detox diet more hours to cleanse. Your solid meal is to be based on the Elimination Diet. This detox diet excludes processed foods, sugar and dairy products.

The Clean Program also includes an educational manual and support through an on-line community. Here people who purchase the detox diet will have access to educational videos.

The Clean Program: Ingredients
The Clean Program advertises that all of it’s products are made from natural sources and are free of added chemicals. The Clean Program’s shake powders are made of brown rice protein. This protein is supposed to provide nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients for cell metabolism. These powders are also to help with the detox diet, especially the liver detoxification.

The Clean Program kit also includes a fiber powder, probiotics, herbal antimicrobials and herbal supplements. The probiotics are included in this detox diet to promote healthy flora in your stomach. The Clean Program uses herbal microbials to eradicate yeast and pathogenic bacteria, in some. The detox diet’s herbal supplement is for regulation of insulin. Regulating insulin is supposed to stop cravings and aid fat burning.

The Clean Program: Dr. Junger
The Clean Program’s designer, Dr. Alejandro Junger, hails from Uruguay. After graduating medical school in 1990, Junger moved to the United States to complete his medical training in Internal Medicine at New York University Downtown Hospital. He then went on to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he spent three additional years of fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases.

Dr. Junger’s move to the U.S resulted in a change to his diet, that did not agree with his system. His irritable bowel syndrome resulted in him becoming a patient and led him to ultimately design the detox diet, the Clean Program.

The Clean Program’s founder currently practices at NYC’s Eleven Eleven Wellness Center and L.A.’s Akasha Center. Dr. Junger has been asked to be the Director of Integrative Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, where he is designing an Integrative Medicine Service.

The Clean Program: Celebrity Endorsements
The Clean Program’s website offers many celebrity endorsements. The most famous faces supporting this detox diet are actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Donna Karan, founder of Urban Zen and Donna Karan International.

The Clean Program’s site quotes Gwyneth Paltrow as saying, “The Clean Program works… I have turned many of my friends on to this program and each one of them has experienced profound benefits, from weight loss to mental clarity to the end of chronic depression. The wisdom and information contained in this book is deeply helpful and life changing.”

Donna Karan is quoted to have said, “Through “Clean” Dr. Junger teaches us methods of cleansing, not only our physical bodies but also cleansing as a way of life-he shows us the power we have on a day-to-day basis to strive to be the healthiest, positive most beautiful beings possible.”
