Health Care Themed Party Favor Ideas for Children

Coloring Books, Party Favor Ideas

Do you have an inspiring doctor or nurse in your family? If so, you may want to consider throwing him or her a health care themed birthday party this year. I happen to know of a few health care inspired party favors that you may want to consider using. Here they are:

House Call Bag

In order to create a bunch of house call bags, you will need a case of syringe pens ($9 per dozen), a case of medical themed lanyards ($7 per dozen), faux medical identification cards ($2), toy stethoscopes ($3 each) and a case of surgical gloves ($5). I’d also suggest that you pick up a case of see-through bug boxes ($10 per 10), a case of Red Hots candy ($7), a case of tongue depressors ($14) and a box of Band-Aids ($5). The bug boxes and candy can represent medicine. You’ll also need a few health care inspired gift bags to put the items in ($7 per dozen). Most of the items may be purchased through costume, party or medical supply shops.

Nurses Hats and Doctor’s Masks

Nurses’ hats and doctors’ masks would also make interesting health care themed party favors. They can generally be purchased through costume or medical supply shops. As far as the nurses’ hats go, you may opt to make your own out of paper or purchase ready-made hats. Directions for making paper nurses’ hats are readily available online. Prices for the ready-made nurses’ hats and doctors’ masks vary greatly and can range from $3 to $38 a box depending on the supplier.

Health Care Related Coloring Book and Crayons

Another option is to hand out health care related coloring books and small boxes of crayons. Based on my experience, you can typically purchase health care related coloring books from a health promotions company for less than $1 each. Many of the coloring books have such titles as “A Trip to the Doctor’s Office”, “Your Healthy Body”, “A Visit to the Pharmacy” and “Know Your Emergency First Aid.” In many instances, the coloring books can also be customized with a birthday greeting and your child’s name.

Anatomy Inspired Candy

Many kids like gross looking, anatomy related candy. With that in mind, why not put together a bag of gummy eyeballs ($18 for a 50-piece case), candy bones ($20 per 5 pound bag), wax lips ($1 each) and gummy internal organs ($6 per 40 pound box)? There are also candy companies that make brain shaped lollipops and gummy fingers. You can typically purchase such odd looking candies through candy wholesalers all throughout the year.
